There is no 'best' perk as such, it ends uo being whatever you are best at, and what you like the most.

Arguably Commando is the 'worst' perk, especially in harder difficulties as they find it hard to defeat scrakes and Fleshpounds.

In saying that, demo's are not very good at taking on scrakes but excell against Fleshpounds. Demo is also a very expensive perk to play as.

In theory, and often in practice Berserker is the best perk. They run fast, can't be grabbed by clots, get reduced damage taken. But then it takes a lot of skill and practice to be able to kill fleshpounds without them raging for instance. Or killing sirens and crawlers before they have a chance to attack you.

Medic is a good perk, fast and more potent healing, faster move speed, and very strong armour. Of course, once your armour is gone you are just as weak, if not the weakest perk out there as you don't excell at dealing damage.

Firebug is nice. Flame resistance means husks are no threat, and flare revolvers are adequate vs scrakes.

Sharpshooter is another perk, which if you have the skills is one of those perks where you can camp and kill everything. With the LAR and M14 combo I've seen players take on everything.

Support is another good perk, which if you have the skills with combos and scrake flinching you to can take on all the zeds. Of course you need to get a little bit closer and there lies the risk.

At the end of the day, you will probably not be able to solo HoE for a good 100 to 200 hours of playtime. If you can solo it sooner, great and well done. Afterall this game is a co-op survival game, and that is how it is best played. Co-op so each players perks complement each others weaknesses.

I spoke with people over in /r/killingfloor discord and some said Support, Zerk and Medic are the 'best'

Support due to more carry capacity. Which means more weapons etc.

every perk has its own advatanges and disadvantages so i agree with u. it depends on what you really comfortable. but in my opinion having berserker in ur team is op cuz they can take almost all the zeds :3

As stated before, there really is no "best" perk. The reason is because of trade-offs; each perk can give you more of something but in return you will lose something. I say this, because each perk is essentially making you over-specialised with guns specific to said perk. For one, as you go up in levels, things become cheaper but they also have a lesser sell value which means that if you want to switch perks, then you are losing money.

However, if such a thing did exist, then I'd say Support or Zerk, and maybe Medic in terms of pure gameplay. Support, because you can literally solo a 3 person HoE game as a level 2, Zerk because the ratio of damage, speed and armor is unchallenged(Probably why people say it's an "OP" perk), and Medic simply because that armor is the best in the game, and the speed boost is simply amazing.

The downsides to these perks are: Even though Support has great damage output abilities, Support weapons have generally low ammo pools which makes it easy to run out of when you're not careful(The same goes for Sharpshooter, but to a slightly lesser extent), not to mention no reload speed bonus. Zerk has to basically rely on off-perk ranged weapons(With the exception of the Buzzsaw Bow, but that is expensive AND it's a DLC), and Medic does not give a damage boost to medic guns.

In terms of overall versatility, it's probably Support, Medic or Commando. Support gives you more carrying space, Medic gives a general speed boost to the player(Unlike Zerk where the speed boost is applied only when a melee weapon is out), and Commando which has a 25% reload bonus to ALL weapons at level 6. With these perks, it makes it more effective to use off-perk weapons should you find youself needing them.

However, I do not recommend buying off-perk weapons for Support unless it's Pipe Bombs as the shotguns are good enough on their own. I actually don't recommend buying off-perk weapons period, as most situations you won't need them.

Commando is also a perk to be studied. You can solo a 3-person HoE game with a level 6 Commando. Just felt like throwing that out there.

its hard to play at first but with some training you can get better with your favorite perk :steammocking:

There are some perks that are essential in the higher difficulties such as medic and berserker. However, that does not mean that they're the best. When you join a game, you need to examine the situation, and determine which perk the team needs or which perk would be strong in certain situations. Team has ammo issues or is getting overrun? Firebug. Long hallways or the team needs a little extra help killing large zeds? Support. Team needs more range? Commando or Sharpshooter for trash and large zeds respectively. Fleshpound troubles? Demo. So on and so forth.

I disagree with zerker being essential, a lot depends on the map and the zerker and the majority I've seen only block the teams view, standing in the hallway of Biotics if camping spawn as an example.
crouch

Sadly some players don't know what that key is, they must think we have homing bullets ;)
Or how to drop weapons for that matter. I ask our lv 6 berserker for a katana. "How do I drop?" Internal screaming

I like medic a lot. You can solo Patriatch real easy in most games even with 6 players only using a offperk flare revolver. Just light him on fire and run, once he retreats to heal you chase him and keep shooting. He'll crouch down to start heal animation, so you shoot with flare to cancel it. He'll keep running and you just chase and shoot him until he burns to death. The only easier kill I've seen is pipe stacking with demo or doing multiple quick headshots with m99.

I have been able to cancel the heal with 9mm as well.

Yeah but it's a lot easier with flares as it keeps burning and more damage. Quick headshots with m99 will lock patriatch in place and kill him before he can move if done right.

Believe me or not,but first game itself wasn't perfect with it's levelling system...even then most perks don't do much effect on Hell on Earth difficulty for supporting to your own survivability.
Technically Support - Firebug are for clearing most ZED's and it is possible on Hell on Earth but you would most certainly go with Berserker as damage resistance is all that matters,if on public you can tank on Fleshpounds mostly by crouching and keep on shooting above you as Medic.

Disappointing to see that first game has lost all of its charm to game balance, because everyone would normally go to Beginner - Normal difficulties. And second game has no problem with this at all which is why it is a bother.

haha...don't listen to this guy...6 p scrake is easy to kill as commando. I do it all the time in with my friends as witnesses.

Sharpshooter would be the best I guess because of the bonus headshot damage and because the 9mm pistol also benefits from Sharpshooter bonuses.

You should still leave them for perks more suited to the task. As commando, just clear the meatshields, err I mean trash surrounding the large zed. Also prioritise on stalkers. They may be easy to see, but you never know when one is able to catch your teamate offguard (like a demo).
