how can i play killing floor on lan without steam?

im trying to play killing floor lan with some friends at school. While i am able to get steam onto the school computers, getting it to load up to my library in offline mode wouldnt work, or atleast i couldnt figure it out. So I tried cutting steam out. I was able to start the game without steam but it wouldnt let me access anything related to lan and the network tab in options didnt exist.

So my question is, is there a way to do lan without steam?

...not unless you can emulate steam in any way shapr or form....
