Nowadays, I don't bother saving these workshop downloads unless they're already extracted and not in their lonesome cache file(unless the game auto extracts it in which case I suppose those cache files are of at least some value....but I don't think KF does that unless you're subscribed to that particular workshop that downloaded that cache file...) in which case I go hunting for those newly created files in the game's local folder....and back those up...
So if you have that many workshop subbed too, you might want to unsub them all until you are 50 or less including the KF ones you want...
Yeah, external/manual link is the way to go thanks to this workshop limitation....that's why as soon as I get the workshop item I want, I immediately unsub....and make a copy of the extracted files....unless the game's workshop only works IF you are subbed to workshop in which case you really have no choice but to keep the sub on for the duration of your interest to that game.....but I don't think there are any games that force you to sub to workshop just to have that mod work....
With KF, well you kinda have to go hunting for the files to know what they are that got downloaded because there's no dedicated mods folder like in some other games where you place them here(or they get placed here via workshop and then can just copy this folder and that's all your mods copied/backed up in one fell swoop! haha) and be done with it......but usually if they're extracted/installed correctly via workshop, will reside in any of these locations:
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Animations
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\KarmaData
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Maps
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Movies
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Music
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Sounds
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\StaticMeshes
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\System
.\Steam\steamapps\common\KillingFloor\Textures
I also believe there was someone trying to archive all mods for KF, but I don't have the link; I'll go look for it and edit this post(or put it on the next post if you posted after this), so you may find it useful... Do take note that those archive will just mainly contain the mods and no documentation so you will either need to figure how it works or google and hope the mod page for it is still alive...
Oh well...gg I guess....
EDIT: ...and of course the forums censor my bad words even though they are used figuratively...
Okay, what I mentioned above really only works when your at about 30-40 mods on workshop. It's not worth it IMO, just use google to find any mods you need and abandon the workshop(at least for Killing Floor).
Also, got the vast majority of my mods from external sources(see below). Surprisingly only had to abandon a few weapons and backed up a few that managed to download in-game via the workshop. But here are the sites I found that you can get pretty much every mod listed on the workshop, save for a few broken links in forums:
http://killing-floor.ru/mutator/
https://gamekillers.ru/workshop/files/1250
http://killingfloor.ru/xforum/threads/igrovoj-kontent-ot-ultra-modding.3323/#entry107217
https://zombie-mod.ru/killing-floor/killing-floor-mutatory/
I recommend ServerPerks(as everthing requires it), Sentry/Engineer Perk/Weapon Pack, Bots Mutator & all the weapons you want.
Thx so much for the help, Boltte. Went from roughly 35 sub'd pages to not one single sub in the workshop lol. Like I said... onto L4D2, and I was wrong it was 53 pages of subs there.
