TDUSC runs pretty well for me on a high end system:
9800x3d. nvidia 5080, 4tb ssd. 64GB ram.
Moza r12, RSv2 wheel, crp2 pedals, handbrake, project D H-shifter, NLR Motion Platform v3.
That said, I agree that there is definitely room for better optimization.
ps. I use g27 wheel drive with H-Shifter. In most of cases if car has a clutch + H-Shifetr I use it. I drive on 900 degreees.
Remember ppl ... If the game is not top optimased game You have to remember about system optimisations, correct drivers etc.
Moreover, Althair and Lardo, I don't disagree with you at all. What I disagree with is the blanket statement that the game is unplayable on a system like yours when in fact it IS playable but [severely] hampered due to [very] poor optimization. If the game supported a solid 60 fps on your system, I know we would all be a bunch happier. Moreover, I agree that sub 60 fps is completely unsatisfactory. It is nonetheless playable. Now, sub 30 fps... that would be unplayable in my mind at least.
As you correctly point out, though, it is not just the frame rate at issue. It is also the occasional stuttering/buffering which IS a major problem. And, that stuttering is mostly mitigated with higher vram graphics cards, newer SSDs and newer CPUs. Moreover, the hardware requirements for satisfactory play are still pretty damn high. The SSD requirement is thus the minimum requirement for satisfactory play.
In the end though, while I would have tried it as well, those who opt to play off a 2.0 USB stick or HDD are never gonna be happy. A 3.0 USB stick (and port) MIGHT get the job done, but I remain skeptical.
As a final point, I realize we may disagree on what IS unplayable, but in principle I think we are seeing two sides of the same coin. Unless you are running a high(er) end machine, chances are you'll be unsatisfied with the current state of the game. On a higher end machine though, it IS quite fun.
Not to make anyone feel bad, but on a 4090, i9-13900KF, it looks and runs great.
I AM CONVINCED that despite this game being very NON-TDU like and all its design choices, if it at least ran well on systems, ppl wouldn't be this negative about it.
It is fun to just chill in a gorgeous looking game.
Yes funny 5080user talk about playing in 4K at 165fps in ultra, without anyproblem. Thanks MFG x4. 48fps isn't good for playing in pc, a ps5 do better.
