TDU:SC is fun.
Sorry to say this but...

The game is good.

I didn't like neither The Crew 1/2 nor Motorfest and this is the very only driving sim that's catching my attention at the moment. Its driving model feels just 'right'. It's in the sweet spot between an arcade racer and a full blown simulation. I love that.

The only complaint I have, as some other people do, is that it's just a little bit too grindy. I'm at level 25 after 20+ hours and I feel that I should be able to unlock 90% of cars after 50 hours. I do not see this happening here and this is a bit of a shame for people having a real life and not wanting to put months worth of free time into grinding to level up and get cars. Especially since driving ranked races is effectively next to impossible at the moment unless you're playing with a friend who happens to be on the same level as you are.

So: Keep up the great work and please make the game a little bit more accessible. And for god's sake reduce the price to 20ish Dollars/Euros so that you can get people back into the game that's so obviously designed as a MMO but is just a MO at the moment.

I got it last week as well and agree, the game is a lot of fun.. when it works as it should.
Sounds and driving feels very satisfying.

What drives me nuts though is the technical difficulties the game still has over 6 months after launch.
You still can´t even reliably create a basic livery or race online without being disconnected...
Absolutely astounded by that. Starting to think, if they didn´t manage to fix this in that amount of time, it never will be in a state without issues.

Can´t even imagine gambling money in the upcoming casino update with the amount of disconnects I´m having.

I really do not have had more than maybe two disconnects yet. But I suppose it has something to do with your location and internet provider? I'm living in a city and got a rather fast rig with a rather fast connection so maybe I'm a lucky one in this regard.

But in general I can agree that always online should not be mandatory. It's just that always online does not bother me personally. And multiplayer with a friend works absolutely fine - in fact I don't know a game that's easier to connect with someone from your Steam friends list. It's literally a two second effort which is nice, imho. In fact even the voice chat works absolutely fine and you do not need Discord for example. Should be standard but isn't nowadays. I like that here.

I am more than 5000 miles from the NA server and I am not suffering from ANY disconnects other than those that crop up from frequent tuning or livery changes. As for disconnecting due to frequent tuning or livery changes, I certainly agree that Devs have dropped the ball. That said, if you quit and restart after altering a livery or tune, you should be safe from those corresponding disconnects.

Look at Forza horizon, lots of players and long lasting with great performance and content. That's actually good. TDUSC is an obvious letdown for the majority of the fanbase.

The game is good.

We do a lot of complaining on this forum, but some of the loudest complainers also love the game too ;) There are certainly some aspects that deserve criticism.

One thing that this game delivers that something like Forza Horizon can't is more realistic roads. Sure, some of the roads are arcade-style wide (especially urban main roads), but there are also a lot of realistically narrow ones, and there's so much more satisfaction in drifting around or dodging traffic on those roads.

Yea I´m EU and my internet is certainly not the best, but I can´t even boot up the game, add a sticker to my livery and just save it. It always times out and then my User can´t be found anymore, so I have to restart the game.

Don´t know what that is, but I have no problems in other online games, so it must be some server BS.
Same thing happens when I´m buying any car.. user can´t be found after it, but in this case, at least the server saved the purchase after reloading

That's a pretty notorious bug in the game that I've hit too. You buy a car and it takes the money, then server disconnects and you don't have the car in your garage. If you quit the game and re-log in, your car will be there.

I haven't hit that bug myself in a long time, but it's such a shame that people are still hitting it, a half year later.
I'm based out of the Eastern US and the game has crashed on me a few times when I enter a workshop. But it hasn't done that lately. My connection issue is mainly within freedrive and races where the game constantly has to slow down to to connect to my sever and then speed up to catch up with said sever. This makes driving very unpredictable, especially with the supercar class. Haven't made it the the hypercars yet, but I doubt those would be any better within my circumstances.
I'd like to chime in and say i haven't had any issues with disconnects ever, but on the other hand i unfortunately live in a region where hardly anyone plays (Oceania).

It's definitely the best game we have for a lot of things, like the map, the driving physics, wheel support, weather effects etc. I wish outsiders paid more attention instead of seeing a small flaw and disregarding the entire game. Offline mode is useful, but given the game's flaws right now with the optimisation, lack of variety and the economy especially, those people will disregard the game anyway.
The poster is wrong. Game is not good. Defending bad game create toxic problem.

It is fun when you do the "campaign" (in absence of a better term) for the first time, and I'm guessing it'll be more fun for someone who buys the game now, with the deliveries and the navigation missions added.

The real problem starts in the endgame, when you're lvl 60 and you've beaten all your clan rivals and done all the races... there is nothing more to do but senseless grinding. Payouts for races don't get better (which is insane since you've beaten the game as far as levelling up) and it's even more difficult to buy cars and expand your collection, the only thing that is left to do...

That's exactly the issue with this game, it's not about grinding to level up or get more money, the whole point of TDU is the community aspect, and this game does NOT have it, that's why its boring.

Better yet, sit back, relax, and enjoy a 37 minute run around Hong Kong with the Ruby Crown. This is the single best track the game has to offer and I enjoy it thoroughly. Unfortunately, it doesn't open until late in the game (level 55 or so); as a result, most players will likely never experience it. I consider that a travesty.
I buyed the ferrari california and I cruise around the Ibiza with the top down and it amazing listening to engine sound.

You don't need a community if you have one (1) single person you can race with. You can do fun races and the bots / different difficulty levels make it a competition that suits everybody. Of course it'd be better if there were thousands players online to play it the way it was probably meant to be played (as MMO) but anyways...1 friend is enough to do some fun races. And moreover: If there were too many pro players around I probably would prefer to play in a private group anyways since I'm not a very competitive player (= not very good).

The MMO part was killed by a much too early release, I suppose, but for the reasons stated above I do not mind that as much as some folks seem to do. As a one-two player open world racer this is topnotch, imho.
