Sounds and driving feels very satisfying.
What drives me nuts though is the technical difficulties the game still has over 6 months after launch.
You still can´t even reliably create a basic livery or race online without being disconnected...
Absolutely astounded by that. Starting to think, if they didn´t manage to fix this in that amount of time, it never will be in a state without issues.
Can´t even imagine gambling money in the upcoming casino update with the amount of disconnects I´m having.
But in general I can agree that always online should not be mandatory. It's just that always online does not bother me personally. And multiplayer with a friend works absolutely fine - in fact I don't know a game that's easier to connect with someone from your Steam friends list. It's literally a two second effort which is nice, imho. In fact even the voice chat works absolutely fine and you do not need Discord for example. Should be standard but isn't nowadays. I like that here.
I am more than 5000 miles from the NA server and I am not suffering from ANY disconnects other than those that crop up from frequent tuning or livery changes. As for disconnecting due to frequent tuning or livery changes, I certainly agree that Devs have dropped the ball. That said, if you quit and restart after altering a livery or tune, you should be safe from those corresponding disconnects.
We do a lot of complaining on this forum, but some of the loudest complainers also love the game too ;) There are certainly some aspects that deserve criticism.
One thing that this game delivers that something like Forza Horizon can't is more realistic roads. Sure, some of the roads are arcade-style wide (especially urban main roads), but there are also a lot of realistically narrow ones, and there's so much more satisfaction in drifting around or dodging traffic on those roads.
Yea I´m EU and my internet is certainly not the best, but I can´t even boot up the game, add a sticker to my livery and just save it. It always times out and then my User can´t be found anymore, so I have to restart the game.
Don´t know what that is, but I have no problems in other online games, so it must be some server BS.
Same thing happens when I´m buying any car.. user can´t be found after it, but in this case, at least the server saved the purchase after reloading
I haven't hit that bug myself in a long time, but it's such a shame that people are still hitting it, a half year later.
It's definitely the best game we have for a lot of things, like the map, the driving physics, wheel support, weather effects etc. I wish outsiders paid more attention instead of seeing a small flaw and disregarding the entire game. Offline mode is useful, but given the game's flaws right now with the optimisation, lack of variety and the economy especially, those people will disregard the game anyway.
The real problem starts in the endgame, when you're lvl 60 and you've beaten all your clan rivals and done all the races... there is nothing more to do but senseless grinding. Payouts for races don't get better (which is insane since you've beaten the game as far as levelling up) and it's even more difficult to buy cars and expand your collection, the only thing that is left to do...
That's exactly the issue with this game, it's not about grinding to level up or get more money, the whole point of TDU is the community aspect, and this game does NOT have it, that's why its boring.
You don't need a community if you have one (1) single person you can race with. You can do fun races and the bots / different difficulty levels make it a competition that suits everybody. Of course it'd be better if there were thousands players online to play it the way it was probably meant to be played (as MMO) but anyways...1 friend is enough to do some fun races. And moreover: If there were too many pro players around I probably would prefer to play in a private group anyways since I'm not a very competitive player (= not very good).
The MMO part was killed by a much too early release, I suppose, but for the reasons stated above I do not mind that as much as some folks seem to do. As a one-two player open world racer this is topnotch, imho.
