Team KT have listened to our feedback and made things much better. Pls stop complaining now and learn how to grind.
Exactly. Because it's so much fun to grind the same race over and over again. This is exactly the kind of live service nonsense that I absolutely despise.
It is fun. You strive to improve.
Grinding isn't exclusive to mmo's.
I dunno what players expect. Playing the game would be a gd start.
Hitting Clan Lv40 you will have Solarpass Lv25 unlocked.
"Road to countryside" ->1min44->took me 13h for Clan Lv55.
Also you have 98 days and each day 3x easy Task worth 12.000 Solar XP:
34.000 XP * 25 Level = 850.000 XP
850.000 / 12.000 = 70 days
--> you don't have to grind races
Yeah, they listened to the huge amounts of complaints about horribly drawn out progression and this is what they did:
- removed payout limitation,
- cut payouts in half,
- added some races with good payouts.
I rarely make any predictions about this game, but this made me realize these devs, or at least their leads, are irredeemable. All this feedback about progression and they still double down on making it as slow as they can get away with and use cheap tricks like these new races to manipulate player perception.
Three months in and they still act as if MMO aspect didn't fail. A single player game with MMO pace of progression.
I don't mean to be rude, but I will - you guys are truly pathetic.
Just have the devs play the game for you, maybe that'll make you happy.
If it feels tiresome and laborious to race the same track over and over, if it's boring learning lines/tracks/cars, if it doesn't excite you trying to set a PB and seeing yourself moving up the leader-board, then this game isn't for you. I would also argue at that point that most racing games aren't for you.
The grind is no longer as painful as it was at vanilla. No way near. Quit your complaining or move on.
Clear as day? Jebus.
Next point, "most racing games aren't for you": again, no, most racing games aren't like TDUSC in terms of progression and access to cars, they don't require this much repetition. In arcade/simcade games with progression and car purchase/unlocks it happens much faster. Even in GT7 that was criticized for its grind, it mostly applies to the most expensive cars. In sandbox type games like racing sims you don't unlock cars, you have access to them right away and can use whatever car you want without wasting days driving other cars.
What changed? Other than adding a few races with high reward/time ratio that you need to stick to in order to have this "not as painful" progression? Tell me if I missed something.
I'm so critical of the game because I've played other games in this genre. In particular, of course, the two predecessors, which for me are still the reference in terms of gameplay and progression. You didn't get anything for free in TDU 1 and 2 either. On the contrary. You had to work hard for your money. But never to the extreme that you had to grind any races religiously. TDU 1 and 2 had enough content and structure that the progression felt natural. Of course, if you grew up in the age of Live Service and Season Passes, you might have different quality standards. But for me, TDU-SC no longer represents good gameplay and progression.
What changed?
Biggest positive change: We got Highway to Heaven which allows one to gain coin and reputation extremely quickly if they choose to do so. (50k every 2.5 min)
Equally positive change (which the youtubers apparently missed...): No more degradation after a certain amount of races in any given day.
Biggest negative change: Rewards were cut almost in half on the longer races. So, the 38 minute race, which used to reward about 400k, now only rewards 220k or so.
Net effect: You can mix it up like I do. Grind for coin, cars, etc. And, then run Ruby Crown and similar longer races for the pure fun of it. Whether you enjoyed shorter races or longer races, you still gain coin and rep quickly enough.
I used to run up to 8 Ruby Crowns in one day; with degradation, my final 38 minute run was worth about 50k. Now, I am assured every run I do will net 220k or so. That is not a terrible trade.
End result, I can gain coin far faster than I used to and I can still take time out to enjoy the long runs without feeling somehow cheated by the devs. I will admit my generic 3xRuby Crown per day grind must now include some shorter races on Ibiza, but that isn't really a bad thing.
