Atari had to sell a lot to avoid bankruptcy, eventually it didn't help and they went bankrupt anyway. It's just too bad that BigBen Ineractive got the rights to TDU back then and not some other more capable publisher. BigBen is now Nacom and the rest we all know.
I'm just glad Eden Games never went online only, but made the choice to ensure an offlinie more too. It would be such tragedy if the TDU's, just like the Crew were lost too forever. Now they can still be enjoyed. I played them on my 360 and that thing is still running today. Though I would prefer to play it on my Xbox One instead, but that's not going to happen. Unless MS one day decides to allow emulation for all older games, but I think legally they can't do that... though they could allow Xenia to run on the Xbox. One can dream.
As much as I love TDU, it's actually not my favorite racing game. That would be PGR4, arguably the best racing game ever made. Now there are rumors it's going to come back, but I doubt that will happen.
When the character models from TDU1 looks light years better than Solar crown, you know something is wrong hahahaha.
Selling this on nostalgia, the publishers pretty much backed themselves into a situation where they cannot win, no matter what they do.
