Confusion about Car Categories

So there are car categories in the game—Grand Tourer cars, for instance—but I have to admit I don't know much about cars. When I’m buying one, I don’t see any indication of which category a car belongs to, so when I know I need a Grand Tourer and go shopping, I’m not really sure what to look for.

I feel like these infos should be provided in a way. Am I missing something here, besides just not being knowledgeable about cars?
