How do I get car out of the garage?

This interface is so screwy... I did the opening race(s) to reach level 3, and bought the mustang after test driving it. I logged off for the night. Next morning. I go down the elevator to the lobby and into the garage. I select the mustang (which is the only car in the garage), but I cannot figure out how to actually get in it and drive. What obvious step am I missing?

Open the driver door, enter the car, turn on the car. There are button prompts for all these actions if you go at the car driver's door.

Without your reply, I would have been stuck for hours. For the next person stuck here, once you manage to successfully get in the car, look toward the center console to bring up the "Start the Car prompt."

I mean it sorta makes sense, but what a waste of time and resources for the simple act of getting out of your hotel room, down the elevator, into the garage, and finally into the car and onto the road.

So, I hit escape to post the follow up and when I jump back into the car, my controls no longer work. Figuring out how to navigate this UI is ... completely nuts.

When I got in the car again, my wheel was no longer functioning so I could only drive with the keyboard. I mean I knew the game was gonna be buggy but there is no excuse for releasing a game in this state.
