This genuinely looks like a PS3 game
Not that it's a bad thing, it seems like an alright budget arcade racer, but for a demo released in 2024 it's severely antiquated in its design, gameplay, and visuals. It really doesn't feel like that much has changed since TDU2, which I even played recently.

This is also why the performance being so slow is simply unacceptable. If they're gonna release the game in this state, the reaction will be brutal.

Tbh I don't ascribe much value to graphics as much as I do to everything else. The game could look like it's a PS3 or even a PS2 game for all I care as long as everything else about it was great to play. And as I said in the OP, this game feels antiquated in general, with visuals being only a part of it.

I genuinely don't feel like anything has changed from TDU2 in terms of car handling, open world design, and the way the career mode is structured, and that was a game from 2011. And on top of that there's this annoying online component that every single game has to have these days to the detriment of the gameplay experience. If you're gonna have this crap in the game then at least make it stable like in Forza Horizon (which also has an offline mode btw.) You know which Forza has an unstable server connectivity which makes it really annoying to play, to the point where I'm gonna think twice before buying another one? That's right, FM8. Also, this new TDU game asking me to create an account was just a final nail in the coffin that stopped me from even considering buying it.

There are indie games with 2D pixel graphics on Steam right now that feel more lively than this game and that's what sucks about it the most.

It's using the outdated rally engine, which is a couple of years old by now and wasn't made for a game like this. If you use an older engine and then try to cram in a lot of stuff which is wasn't made for, you need to make a lot of concessions. It doesn't make sense to use a mainly singleplayer offline closed world engine for a mmo open world game. That's asking for trouble.

OK, having played tdu and tdu2, i wont be buying this. The devs have not listened to the long term players and no one has actually asked us what we wanted. I will NOT buy anything from NACON ever again.

I game across this video today. If got a sim wheel and know how to use it, can "drive" TDUSC pretty good. :)

One of these days people will put 2 and 2 together and realize that how it looks depends on their PC :steamfacepalm:

Never. Don't expect anyone in this forum to use any sort of logic or sound reason. They want everything in a single game that lasts forever for free or they'll reeee the roof off.

None of that made sense, as you don't expect anyone to use logic or sound reason, I think you just proved your own point. Though thinking is beyond me since no one in this forum can use logic or reason.

Outdated graphics wouldn't be the problem if the game ran good, but the game runs like a turd while having not the "best" graphics to say the least
and im not even talking about HUGE CPU performance problems this game have when even 7800x3d struggles to output high refreshrate framerates

So you've played the release build already? Because both the NextFest demo and the recent console beta were both on an older build that didn't have any of the more recent improvements.

The release build will be a mess, no doubt about it. They had to revert to an older build on the console demo because of technical issues. All we've seen are technical issues so far... I can see lots of negative reviews pouring in because of all kinds of technical issues players will encounter at release.

the demo played smooth as butter for me on a 10700k and a 4070ti at 2560x1440. It felt fantastic. I had a blast on a racing wheel setup. The game on release has better graphics and better gameplay than the demo build so I can't wait. This is going to be awesome. The only negative for me was the server stability. As long as the servers are stable the only negative reviews are gonna be the Forza fanboys "zomg this isn't forza" Which is exactly the reason I am buying it because Forza sucks.

tale as old as time, every time
barely anything will change on release, the only change we will see are slightly updated post-process effects and 5% better lighting that devs showed recently

"Noooo, guys, this is just an early build! The full game will be better, trust me!"

Depends on what you mean by "smooth as butter" because I had 70-80 FPS on this too, and technically you could consider this smooth performance. But with graphics that look like a PS3 game it's unacceptable.

Just remember, graphics do not make a game great…

There are tons of low polly crappy graphics games but are super fun and enjoyable :)

True, but when comes to open world driving games, good graphics is a must, otherwise the immersion is gone. So in this case the remark doesn't fly.
