How Is The Game Using 14GB of VRAM?
The game is just OK looking, how is it using 14GB of VRAM?
Because I only have 12GB on my RTX 3080, it literally tanks the FPS to 30-40 which is literally unplayable.
Even medium settings, it only brings the VRAM usage to 11GB, which is somewhat playable at 70FPS but damn... just say the game is unoptimized.

Mine uses nearly 12gb out of 8gb xD I got a RTX 4060, I run high setting 1080p getting 60 plus fps but there are some spots with frame drops randomly but only in like some alleyways lol :)

You can't what you don't have LOL, 12gb when you have 8? Yeah right!

seems bit old topic, but game has serious memory leak issues. it degrades overtime and starts to lag more and more.
settings are still broken, when changing certain settings that say very high vram usage, they won't actually decrease it.
i have 5gb vram usage on low settings, but game still lags down to 20-30fps while my GPU usage is only 70% or below.

CPU is about 30-60% and RAM is 80% (with background programs open).
i have no bottleneck, yet game lags and barely gets 30fps. it's horrible.

tdusc has no optimization, that's the problem. lazy / poor developing as always, 90% of nowday games are made by devs who don't know how to optimize games or what optimization even means.

As I've already explained, the game makes use of DirectStorage and you run it from THE ASSEST possible 5400RPM HDD drive. So in your case, you're deliberately crippling the performance.

yes, there is definitely a vram leak here, and most likely the problem is in the amount of data that the geometry takes up, how much vram does it take from you?

i have a 4070 Ti running 1440p and can';t get over 32 fps. I am running triple screens in nvidia surround but this is the only game i have that can't get over 35 fps on high. Ultra will boggle down to 17-24 fps.

had the same issue with my first game launch . Then I had servers issues ,l i restarted the game and now it's never more than 7.x Gb ...

i never said i'm running it from 5400rpm hdd, i said other similar games work fine, including cyberpunk 2077.
i have tdusc on ssd.

question is, why use "directstorage" if it's SO BAD?

WHY can't devs make it run as smooth as fh5? what is the reason why they go backwards with technology?

also what you don't understand, if hdd is too slow, then it won't cause frame lag. do you understand how computer graphics work?
GRAPHICS CARD is what renders graphics. textures are read from hdd/ssd, if hdd is too slow, then it will cause missing textures, it doesn't cause low FPS. this is exactly what happens in cyberpunk 2077, if you have it on slow hdd, then you often see super low res textures or missing models, like vehicles looking like boxes.
this is what happens when hdd is too slow. in OLD games this was common issue when people didn't defrag their hdd.
sometimes it can also cause stuttering where game gets stuck as it needs to load main part of map, but it does NOT cause low fps!

if you such a genius, explain to me how slow hdd can effect framerate when you're in main menu?

Because DS causes a constant stream of compressed data, that then needs to be uncompressed to be used by the game, brightless. This alone makes sticking to an HDD a horribly idiotic idea, you're stalling literally every component cuz you make everything wait on the data from your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HDD. Since TDU SC uses CPU Fallback, all the data goes straight to the CPU, bypassing the GPU, hence why the constant 70% of usage while moving around.

Idfc what's going on with other games, TDU SC uses Direct Storage as part of its main pipeline so freaking adhere to it and only then bash games performance. Direct Storage isn't the reason the game performs horribly, EVERYTHING is read from a storage and packed into VRAM, then just reshuffling on need happens. Just the existence of an HDD causes global issues and mostly intermittent stuttering, especially if you have tons of junk installed there, active in the background. Your previous post didn't state where you've installed SC, so all this glorifying HDDs and "optimization" gave false notion, that you've also installed the game there.

What's your full PC spec, anyway, apart from having a GTX 1080? Wdym by main menu even, the launching menu? There's a hard 200FPS cap there.
