STEAM NEXT FEST FREE DEMO

We know how eager some of you are to take your first spins on Hong Kong Island. This project, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, which means so much to our teams, has never been closer to its final release, scheduled for September 12, 2024, on Steam and consoles.

Starting today, we are participating in the Steam Next Fest 2024 to give you a preview of the Solar Crown experience. You can learn more about Steam Next Fest by clicking here.

This demo marks a further stage in the development team's large-scale technical testing process. The aim is to test the stability of the game servers, gather key information and gather player feedback, with a view to the game's launch.

Demo dates:

Start: June 06th - 04:00 PM UTC

End: June 17th - (Hour TBC)

Demo content

This demo version only includes a portion of the content that will be available in the final game. The cars, districts, and progression levels are limited for this time!

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

This demo takes place on a build of the game that is still in development. While the visual rendering is close to the final version, we are still refining the overall experience to ensure the best quality/performance ratio for the launch in September.

KNOWN ISSUES

• Automatic graphic settings are voluntary low. Please do not hesitate to set them higher if your hardware is compatible (see "Technical Requirements").
  
• In-game traffic is not final yet, we are still fine tunning car spawn and despawn (like Taxi volume)
  
• If you join friend party via Steam while being on freeride you will have to enter and leave any lobby (Solar Hotel, Workshop, ...) to refresh your status and see your friend.
  
• Sound issue when the opponent vehicle is 'Alfa Romeo Mito Quadrifoglio verde 2010'
  
• Traffic vehicles are present in the Race Lobby / Preparation Phase / Clan Races and Challenger Races
  
• The Porsche 918 Spyder (2013) is missing from the German Cars dealership (District 8)
  
• The Koenigsegg Agera RS (2015) is missing in the Luxury Cars Dealership (District 2)

It's ♥♥♥♥.

It feels lifeless and boring, the cars handle like they're pivoting in the middle and you need pretty high specs to run at mediocre graphics settings.

The whole thing needs a rework. I know its a demo but my god, its awful and an absolute waste of 50gb drive space.

Thanks for the demo, i preorder the gold edition, i really miss the TDU franchise , really nice to see the revival , grate sound, atmosphere , graphics , and is a blast to play with wheel ( Logitech G923 ).
All you need is to polish the game, work on performance ( because is really bad with an Ryzen 5800X & Radeon 6900XT) and DO NOT ADD MICROTRANSACTIONS !!!!

I was really excited about this game and was planning to spend extra on the gold edition but after playing this demo, I'm honestly really disappointed. You guys had a long time to craft this game, if the full release will be as demanding to run as this demo build then its just not it, the game doesn't even look that good for the amount of processing power needed to run it even at 1080p medium, it looks like your average small studio unity3d game with super unoptimised graphics and broken lighting.You guys have to remember that not everyone in the world has a super computer or a 1000-2000 dollar pc build that they use to play games. Most people (if you cared enough to check the hardware survey) only use rtx 3050s and 3060s and most are still rocking the old 1060 and 1050ti or more recent 1650 and 1660 all are not at the level of processing power your game is requiring for 1080p!!! and the cpu too a 5800x? most people using ryzens are still rocking r5 3600 or the r5 5600, and even on intel's side 6 cores is the most steam pc gamers have to use and most don't even have the most powerful 6 core cpus. Putting that aside, the game-play is actually acceptable, the car sounds are good, i don't care much about soundtrack since I have my preferred music that i listen to while playing, the map isn't bad but it needs more traffic variety and some human life and, I don't knows if its a problem with the car models being not detailed enough or the game engine having horrible lighting but, the game actually looks like a mobile phone if it was released for pc instead of mobile, again average small team unity3d project. I wouldn't mind the always online if there are going to be enough servers around the world to give everyone a mostly lag free experience, but I would still prefer if we had a solo campaign mode.

Don't worry I have the best PC money can buy and it doesn't run smoothly and get below 60 FPS in 4K native resolution.
The game is not good anyway, this is a Forza Horizon downgrade and too far from the spirit of TDU, I would have purchased the game on release (but probably refunded) but this demo saved me the trouble.
I think this demo will cost them quite a lot of money.

Performance is running very slow on RTX3060 and I7-4790k.
Also, the map isn't loading well for most of the time when driving. The car would just stop on road when the map isn't fully loaded.

I have like tips, from our TDU2:

-Fast spawning on explored road (not only Gas stations)
-Too much custom scenes (after race we are introduced with winners, you need to spend like 30sec to see top 3 animations, and you can't skip it)
-Casino
-Offline race (in each race, i need to wait 30sec if somebody will join, and therefore he can come with better car), no problem, who want such thing, but since is MY race, i want to choose
-Event race's
-License races (maybe comes latter, but finishing "school" and getting licence in certain group was, i think, very good system)

Even for alpha/beta test builds, please don't tease the players with an early build feels nothing like the play test builds and full of indecencies, while release date is just 3 months away

Considering that any company wouldn't share a broken old build of their game project as a demo for potential buyers, I say their current build of the game isn't any better than this demo and with only 3 months left before release, they'd have to do a LOT of work to fix the game.

a 4090 for 4k what a joke
Forza Horizon 5 is 3 years old is a lot more optimised ... and I think probably have nicer graphics

with 4070ti and 5800x3D i need to play in 2K (2560x1440p) ...
