STEAM NEXT FEST FREE DEMO

We know how eager some of you are to take your first spins on Hong Kong Island. This project, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, which means so much to our teams, has never been closer to its final release, scheduled for September 12, 2024, on Steam and consoles.

Starting today, we are participating in the Steam Next Fest 2024 to give you a preview of the Solar Crown experience. You can learn more about Steam Next Fest by clicking here.

This demo marks a further stage in the development team's large-scale technical testing process. The aim is to test the stability of the game servers, gather key information and gather player feedback, with a view to the game's launch.

Demo dates:

Start: June 06th - 04:00 PM UTC

End: June 17th - (Hour TBC)

Demo content

This demo version only includes a portion of the content that will be available in the final game. The cars, districts, and progression levels are limited for this time!

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

This demo takes place on a build of the game that is still in development. While the visual rendering is close to the final version, we are still refining the overall experience to ensure the best quality/performance ratio for the launch in September.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Automatic graphic settings are voluntary low. Please do not hesitate to set them higher if your hardware is compatible (see "Technical Requirements").
  • In-game traffic is not final yet, we are still fine tunning car spawn and despawn (like Taxi volume)
  • If you join friend party via Steam while being on freeride you will have to enter and leave any lobby (Solar Hotel, Workshop, ...) to refresh your status and see your friend.
  • Sound issue when the opponent vehicle is 'Alfa Romeo Mito Quadrifoglio verde 2010'
  • Traffic vehicles are present in the Race Lobby / Preparation Phase / Clan Races and Challenger Races
  • The Porsche 918 Spyder (2013) is missing from the German Cars dealership (District 8)
  • The Koenigsegg Agera RS (2015) is missing in the Luxury Cars Dealership (District 2)

Who green-lit this demo? This could've been the best advertisement you could've done but no, this build does the opposite. It runs EXTREMELY bad, there's just no way around it. It not like you say refining the quality/performance, it needs a complete and absolute focus.

DLSS & FSR are both broken, blurry as heck and do close to nothing. Modern hardware, fast hardware, overkill hardware, older hardware, it all struggles to maintain 40fps. that's 1/3rd of what is expected from a game of this size and graphical fidelity.

Forza easily reaches a stable 120fps on most decent hardware, The Crew MF while locked, only uses about half my gpu, so it would get a solid 100+fps if unlocked. On console competitors, nfs, forza, the crew all hit 60fps stable. This is a big investment for your studio, I don't think you can afford to launch it like this.

Ye sorry but the aim should be to figure out how to triple native performance (no ai copium) with minimal loss of visuals. I would strongly argue against releasing September, just delay it with 1 more year, it's clearly not close to being ready.

And also, I would STRONGLY reconsider the multiplayer only races and always online aspect. It drops the value of your software to that of a renting service like Netflix or Gamepass, 10 bucks at best, some dlc over time but in no way a 50euro upfront cost.. -- and it has to be Forza quality otherwise, well we can already rent Forza with offline support. There is no way after The Crew loss in my library I'm paying anything more for a rental.

Ye this is bull. I have 2 pcs, or rather me and my spouse, one with a 3080ti and one with a 4070ti. Both superior cpu and ram specs. One on 3440x1440p and one on a regular 1440p, neither despite having better specs, come even close to 60fps.

Thankyou for the demo looking forward to it!

I was hoping it would be as exciting as the original, but this game feels like a Need for Speed World clone (which would still be better then this piece of ****).

Go buy Forza 5 instead, the experience is so much better then this.

I'm going to go play TDU1. That actually works unlike TDUSC
TheG0thicPrince Jun 7, 2024 @ 4:13am
Played about.....five minutes and then uninstalled. Game is blurry, even though I have graphics maxed, honestly TDU1 looks better. Using a logitech G29 steering wheel, even though in the game options, it has Force feed back set to full, I have ZERO feeling through the wheel, so I cannot tell what the car is doing unlike TDU1 which even though it's an old game, it still gives me feedback, the music is...awful, there's no actual radio stations...
Won't be buying the game if this demo represents it.

DLSS & FSR are broken, that's why it's blurry, only DLAA looks as it's supposed to. They may be able to fix dlss and fsr in time so it's not a vaseline mess on your screen. Still inside the city I get an AVERAGE of 35fps, outside 28 lmao. on a 3080ti. there's no way they triple that in 3 months. Which for me means the same, uninstall and kicked from wishlist. it's sad, i've dreamed about a new test drive for well, since tdu2. but not like this.

Hmm, isn't my i7 10700 4.6ghz(non-k version) enough for 60FPS?

It's not just the graphics, it's the controls as well. I remember being able to set two separate controls for cars, and having to switch into reverse and then press the accelerator to travel in reverse....In this mess of a demo, even using a steering wheel and foot pedals, it still acts like a keyboard arcade game, so pressing the brake activates reverse....

quel honte de sortir une démo comme ça..graphisme dégueulass, ça lag, 25 fps avec une rtx 3060...conduite à la ramasse. j'ai annulé ma préco. QUEL HONTE

Hi Nacon, your game looks very promising and you've managed to bring out the vibe of the previous Test Drive Unlimited games, well done!

However, there's a very, very big optimization problem (at least on PC for now), in fact I don't think I've ever seen a game so poorly optimized. I know you're a small studio and don't have the colossal resources of a AAA title, but something absolutely must be done, otherwise you'll be depriving yourself of a large proportion of gamers who don't have the necessary configuration to play the game in decent conditions.

We're still a few months away from release, so apart from a few bug fixes, the game is in its final form. Please concentrate on this one point, your game looks very promising.

I disagree. I just booted up TDU 1,and aside from it having a few glitches running on modern hardware and slightly more blurry than I remember, this...demo comes nowhere close to feeling like TDU.

cause 90% of what makes tdu, tdu is missing. in the past we could make gta, and tdu with relatively small studio but now we can't. it has to be big, inefficient and expensive and delivers often bad results. EG Diablo.

Looks like Framerates are capped.. No matter what my graphics settings are its always stuck at 30fps.

I keep getting pink textures on buildings and white on raods too. Like the lighting is breaking.
