I'm actually so sad. I know it's the Beta, but the issues here are too many to handle until September.
This. I could overlook the terrible character models, the lack of customization, and the poorly optimized graphics if they had at least a decent driving model. But no, it's garbage: FH5, for all its issues, easily wipes the floor with what we've seen. Actually, scrap that: there's just no comparison.
The game was not in development for over 10 years. After Eden Games / Atari went bankrupt, it was unclear for many years who even owned the TDU licence. It was only a few years ago that Nacon bought the licence and commissioned KT to develop it. But of course this is in no way meant to justify this poor excuse of a TDU...
It genuinely feels like an early Xbox One/PS4 era open world racing game, with nothing beyond the setting to make it worthwhile over a Forza Horizon or Need for Speed game.
It just has no character to it at all, and then does the bare minimum for all the basic aspects. I don't think this will be turned around before (or after) release.
