Besides that, Forza has a offline mode, so I really see no point in downgrading my experience just because I'm nostalgic for a TDU experience (that won't be a TDU experience). Nope, not falling for it.
Perhaps, but you will still need an online connection, you can mod it to offline. It's like the Crew, depending upon connection with a server to run. Server down? Game down. Server gone? Game gone. TDU2 didn't depend on server, TDUSC does. If KT Racing shuts down the servers, no mod will prevent the game from being shut down too. Your profile and game progress are probably stored online as well.
I still play TDU2 and TDU, both completely offline. with TDUSC that won't be possible.
I must admit, I played TDU2 with friends because it was (not always working, connection issues) fun! A game there is designed for online play like this isn't much fun single-player. Okay the servers for TDU2 was online for seven years, but I wanted to play online after that.
You're sure modders (after TDUSC servers get shut down) can't just run a private server?
If they even allow modding, since it's a mmo they might not allow it or perhaps it's not possible. Connecting to a server is mandatory, so an integral part of TDUSC. Not like TDU2 where it's optional. Rerouting to another server will probably be seen as cheating by the drm and there will be legal issues. Keeping a mmo alive is not up to anyone but the company, unless they give the coding to the community. There have been petitions to keep the Crew alive. Ubisoft says no and that's the end of the matter. If KT Racing or Namco say no, then nothing is going to happen. They're in full control of the game, unless they decide to give it to someone else. Legal nightmare...
If there really is no offline mode, the developers should remove the "playable solo" indication from the store page.
They've stated twice that it will be online only, they're not going to offer offline.
