Broken Again Win7 ATI?
I used to be able to play this game. Now it looks like it opens, shows it running in my processes, but won't display the menu, so I can't play anymore. I have tried all the different compatibility modes, and the utility, but nothing works anymore. Can anyone please help?! Thanks in advance!

I have Windows 8 with ATI but my problem was the same as yours and I solved it by setting compatibility for PR2.exe to Windows98/ME.

Find the .exe file in steam/steamapps/common/port royale 2, right click on it, select properties, go to the 'compatibility' tab and then tick and choose Windows 98/ME.

That almost worked. It opened the program, but when it gets to the menu, it hits a runtime error, and quits out. The only fix I've found that works, is to roll back my ATI driver. But I don't want to keep doing that, just to play this game. Sad that's there's no support for it from Steam.

i had trouble too with crash on load with ati 6970 on win7, but changing the compatibility to 98/me fixed it for me , and thats with 12.8 drivers,....

open the directory where your steam games are located, for me that was : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Port Royale 2..... open it........

try to find a file called pr2.exe, right click on that file, go to the tab "compatibility" or something called like that, and check the top most option in that tab, select run it as win98/ME.
that made the game work for me in fullscreen mode, even if i uncheck the run in fullscreen option in the config tool..

i hope this will help....

Try this:
-Start
-Control Panel
-System
-Advanced system settings
-Advanced Tab
-Settings under "performance"
-Third Tab "DEP"
-Add on that list PR2.exe
Save
