improved compatibility with modern OS
If you look at how Calypso are making games it is basically a visual replica of civilization franchise. Not the same vibe port royal 2 have. I don't think they can recreate that same old style with modern tools they are using. I wonder even if calypso have the source code for 2nd one at this point.
In general 2.5D games are harder to sell and produce. You know if it was all great and all Ascaron wouldn't go bankrupt.
Overall the game as it is now is not in that bad state. There are some minor updates and some tricks made by few people to run it in widescreen.
I would love to be able to conquer towns for my own but there seem to be 0 modding communities for this out there.
I wish i was wrong on this but i can't see anything being done to this in foreseeable future.
