Starting a new game before 1.3

Would starting a new game before the big update be a bad idea, like would doing the early game be affected by it to where i would need to start over yet again when it comes out?
Been itching to try this game again after awhile and just wanna make sure i dont set myself up for restarting again later haha

I would also like to know this. I have it installed and waiting for the update, but I have been wanting to get a jump start on a new save file.

According to the devlogs, most of the new content would only be available after the main story or the caves have been completed. So a playtrough that's close to those milestones would probably be ideal?

The devs have said couple times that 1.3 is going to introduce mostly endgame content, so you can start new game without worries. Plus, judging by the pace at which they started to release devlogs, I think we can expect the update in few weeks :)
