How do learning stations work?

I've placed each of the four stations in my fields, encompassing bee hives, irrigation pumps and crops, filled them each with max contributions and waited for the next day [a Tuesday], but the kids don't seem to be helping? They don't seem to be attending classes either lol

Unfortunately, you'll never see kids at them, as they instantly work as soon as morning comes. It's disappointing, I know.
