How to use the well?

I try to place it by the field and it tells me it can't be placed outside, so I try indoors and it says can't be placed inside.
I'm on day 5 by the way

You have to place it within your field. That's what it means by can't be placed outside

The well is a well, not an irrigation system. And yeah you have to place it inside one of the farming fields.

Its just an easier to rech spot for Water refilling.
But Funny enough, "JPANv2" a Modder, seemed to think like you, he made a Mod for RoP where the Well acts as an early Irrigitation System and Waters the Fields around it^^ (like in MC)
