Friendship decay?
Is there Friendship decay? If so, how does it work? Is it like in Stardew Valley, on which you lose a little bit of friendship if you don't talk to someone for a day, and does it stop decaying if you are at max friendship too?

I didn't bother enough with friendships to answer all of it except this :
it decays, seems pretty fast to me too but it might just be an impression
giving gifts on birthdays gives a ton of it and of course gift quality maters as well as how much they like it.
Other than that I'm not sure.

Does is now? Didn't look like that for me.
Iam just talking with everyone i see (with the Friendship Bracelets on) and nearly everyone is on 10 Flowers with me, even some People which i talk to once in a month or so ^^
And gifting them a Gift they Dislike doesn't seem to distract Friendship Points aswell :-/

Yeah, I saw that there is a mod on Nexus to stop friendship decay, but at the same time, it doesn't seem like I'm experiencing it. I'm getting some relationship progress even with the characters that I don't go out of my way to find, or that don't visit the tribe often.

I have ten flowers with everybody from the builders/musicians household (they are my neighbors and often near the fields, so I think I probably end up talking to them more often than with the other characters), so maybe I'll stop interacting with Ibon or Acre for a while and see what happens.

I havent seen any decay yet, and I only talk to people when I can be bothered. I'm sure there is some, it just doesn't seem fast?
I really don't know, other people I talk to have no issues, some gain flowers for not doing anything with them, and I seem to lose flowers daily, even though I have upgraded friendship bracelet on and make sure to do my dances a week and talk to them. :'(

I don't have the bracelet and don't talk much but I had some flowers from loved high quality birthday gifts at some point the first year, I even had some cutscenes so I did progress friendships with some people that 1st year.
then in the second year I misscalculated and made huge fields that I still had to water with a barely upgraded watercan so I had to give up on even talking to people and all my flowers went back to 2 except for grandpa because I talk to him often fro the seeds.

So I agree with you it decays and it seemed to me to decay a lot because I still talked to everyone at festivals or other occasions it's not as if I hadn't talked a single time during that second year.

There is a definitely a decay in my game.. And it's really annoying to be honest.
In Stardew, when you reached 10 hearts/flowers (or 8 with the bachelors), decay was no longer possible. I miss this feature in Patcha. Decay surely maskes sense in case of "reality" but as the characters start to repeat their sentences quite soon, there is no real motivation to keep talking to every one of them... At least that's my opinion.

Someone made a mod for it on Nexus if it really bothers you. I'm not a fan of friendship decay either tbh

Huh, I really thought maximizing friendship levels would halt any kind of decay, so that's a little disappointing to hear that this happens in Roots of Pacha. I understand that it's not that big of a deal, but I guess it just my OCD about these kinds of things in games just getting to me.

Can you still play online / co-op with mods?

wait... why is there friendship deacy with the people but not with animals?
saw people say that animal friendship does not decay... then why does it do so with people?? that makes no sense... I don't like friendship decay...

There is 100% friendship decay. During my time spent trying to get legendary animals I didn't really feel like chasing down npcs to talk to them and I noticed losing flowers (pretty fast too, some who were at 4 are now at 2)
The fact you don't seem to gain much friendship from event-talking to people is a shame too, I'm on year 3 and most people are still on 2-3 hearts because honestly I don't like stuffing "friends" with gifts to earn their affection.

Guess cavepeople are materialistic ♥♥♥♥♥.

Also to add, I have actually max'ed out everyone's friendship/flowers and ever since I've moved on to focusing with collecting animals and upgrading jewelry, I constantly have 1-3 villagers drop a flower since I don't really interact with them much anymore. Luckily it takes usually just one conversation and maybe a dance to max it back out, but as already stated in this thread, this decay is here in the game 100% (even after max'ing everyone's friendship/flower levels which I was hoping would freeze any kind of decay).

This might be a stupid question: but why do I want friendship with the villagers (besides to fullfill prophecies or starting a family)? Or better phrased: does this give me any benefits or is this just something people like to do?

Events/cut-scenes are generally tied to a NPC's friendship level in this game (like Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, Rune Factory...pretty much every game in this genre), so that could be one reason -- players may want to see NPC stories unfold.

Another benefit I've seen is at the higher friendship levels, the chances of the NPC gifting the player something (I've received food, crafting materials, and gems) for simply interacting with them once can occur.

But overall I guess if someone were to only look at it from 'how does this improve the gameplay' or something like that, I would always say it probably isn't really worth the trouble. But if you're into just receiving more 'flavour' to the in-game world, then it can be a fun distraction while doing the simple 'gameplay' stuff like crop growing, beer brewing, animal raising, or whatever.

Only time I have seen any decay is when I load up the game and someone who was at 10 flowers is at 9, talk to them once it goes back to 10 and they are ignored again for the rest of the time I am playing. There are Characters who I have only talked to at festivals with 2-3 hearts and they are not decaying. Some of the characters I have at 10 hearts I stopped talking to and they stay at 10.

Unsure if there is decay or not. Some people here are saying it is fast which I am not seeing and nor is my friend who I am playing multiplayer with. I am wondering if there is a bug with it since there is no clear answer.
