What's a good strategy for farming?
I have already started over once. I'm thinking I might want to start again because I made my farm too big. Currently I have 56 different plants (8 x 9 sections) to maintain. Between harvesting and watering (I only have the first bucket upgrade, so only 3 at a time) it's almost noon. Then I have two sheds, 2 goats, 2 boars, 2 Ostriches, 1 lama, and one Buffalo. I have no time for chit-chat (I'm working on Frer, love that headband!). What are some strategies toward farming and animal upkeep?

I did not have any strategie at the begining. And I think that is ok. Now I am in Winter and have the irrigation system. So I got almost every crop to knowledge level 5. I think it is not really it to have so many crops so early on when you have no time for something else. It will only make you even slower to progress in the caves and the next waterbucket upgrade will come even later. I think the real big farming can only (comfortable) start when you have the automated watering.

Getting your farm tasks done by noon is fairly good, so I don't see the worry here unless you mean you have to be pushing hard to get that. Perhaps adjust your layout or add more wells? The first watering upgrade isn't too shabby, but it's the running back to fill it constantly that gets you. Also hit the animals first thing since they'll all be in the shed next to each other, plus you want to be sticking your head in each one daily.

Also you are going a little too hard at farming especially on your first year. In order to really progress your ability to farm you need get that next upgrade on the watering can. Even then though, use it as a way to add more time the mines until you unlock a better way to water larger amounts of crops. What's bogging you down is that you are pushing heavily into things that can be automated with progress in the mines and ideas with the village.

If you feel overwhelmed, just cut down on the crops imo. Save the huge farming for when you have the irrigation system. Big batches of crops wont earn you the same kind of money it might in Stardew Valley for example anyway. I would focus on keeping a variety of crops, but smaller quantity of each, and progress in the mines. You won't really be earning any big bucks until you start unlocking more ideas,

If you want to you could also ditch the bison and the llama. They give fur which your boars do already anyway. Atm I've got 3 large barns with about 8 animals in each and I do them first thing in the morning like Psykout said, because its easier to "talk" to them while they're gathered up. And then later when they're all out in the paddock I hit them all with the flute where it reaches all of them.

Progression is definitely key early on. You want to be unlocking ideas, trying new processing stations, getting deeper in the mines etc.

I absolutly gone heavy in crops early on like you did. After i while i acknowledged my mistake and ignored my fields for a few days a week, to go mining in the cave and get the upgrades on my tools. Fishing is also more attractive for prosperity early on than farming. After a few weeks i was back on track an could handle my farm and everything else, except making friends. I hated the friendship system in Stardew Valley and i hate it in this game too.
