Spoilers ahead, but the monkey puzzle...
Sheesh. I love the game, but one of the weaknesses you guys have is explaining things.

For instance, when you get the well, if you try to place it outside of the field, it says "can't place outside." I went into my house and it says, "can't place inside."

Just one message is needed there. "Must place in field."

This communication error is blindingly prevalent with the monkey puzzle. No map, no way to restart or give up, and almost no real explanation about wtf you're doing.

Too much going on. The instruments, while cute, need to be buttons or something. Also, "raising one lowers the other" means what? When there's only one instrument on an island?? Does it lower ALL the other ones? Does it reverse every symbol? Is it only reversing the symbols on the island?

What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on? I shouldn't have to immediately go to a wiki (not that one exists, I'm struggling to care enough to find a youtube video that is bearable enough to help me here)

It's completely illegible. I'm not really a puzzle fan in the first place but I don't hate them.

I hate this one. It's very bad. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to insult the devs. But this one was a complete and utter miss

For the Monkey puzzle:
When you play an instrument, it gets added to the soundtrack and raises the stone with the corresponding symbol. Only one instrument can be active at the same time, when you play a different one the previous stones lower themselves. So you will have to choose a path available and change the instruments to progress. It sounds harder than it is, since you usually just have to play the newest instrument in your path (Aside from the end of the puzzle).

the monkey challenge is god awful game design. it's so tedious and long, even if you DO understand what it's going for. having everything an entire screen apart is such a bizarre, terrible choice

Looking at it, it HAS to be a multiplayer puzzle they shafted the single player players with

It was a bit tedious but it's more or less knowing where you've been and where you've yet to have been, what buttons /instruments you need to play with to travel. I liked it.

I remember when games were made for people with a double digit iq .. IT'S NOT ENOUGH THAT I CAN JUST GO ON THE INTERNET AND SEE THE ANSWER I NEED THE GAME TO EXPLAIN IT TO ME IN EXACTING DETAIL HURR DURR ...

Time was game would have just dumped it on the map and said work it out bro ..
i think the monkey puzzle is good and not horribly hard.

wow... people now a days really need the devs to hold their hand and point out the solution to every single puzzle hun?
A friendly tip: never touch the older zelda games if you are having THIS MUCH problem with it. On that note also stay away from the Tomb Raider series. They will make you cry even louder.

Anyway, Before I really start, I'd like to say that you are 100% entitle to have your own opinion and if anyone here say that you should, obligatorily, agree with them, you should tell tem to go eat grass or something more R rated.

Now here is MY opinion: NO. This is not a problem, this is a FEATURE. Puzzles are for YOU to figure out what each instrument does and what parts move. Its a PUZZLE CHALLENGE just because you cant brute force it as easily as you probably did with the owl challenge (because this one you also can brute force, but its less obvious) don't mean its "a complete and utter miss"

This is not a dev's or game issue. Its a SKILL ISSUE.

The fact that you complain after having to use google/wike/internet to solve such a basic problem that had, at most, 1 or 2 diferent kinds of options that were not the correct one tells more about you than the game itself.

Also don't try old prince of persia. Or Lost Vikings. Or the Trine series. Those are all puzzle games that would fry your mind!

Edit: Or Oddworld (the one with the weird alien) or lemmings. LOVE LEMMINGS! I forgot how many puzzle games I played before that were amazing

I don't think insulting people is what these discussions are for.

I found a map on the Fandom wiki that purports to show the way. I had to try it twice, but I finally managed, Thank GOD.

There is a way to avoid the puzzles. You won't get the achievements, but you'll get through them and be able to continue on your way.

That's interesting. And what does this way involve?

As I recall (still playing but long past the puzzles): As soon as the puzzle starts (there will be a small notice in the upper right of the screen) click on the Space Bar or if that doesn't work use the Escape key. There's a new option then (and only then) when you press the Escape key. I did it both ways. Like I said, you won't get the achievements but that part didn't bother me at all.

I found the monkey puzzle rather straightforward, and obviously a well goes in your field,

I think these are more personal problems. lol
