I cant find it also. I have the feeling iam almost through the cave, got the monkey totem and advanced very far. But still no Tin. Only thing i dont have is the horse totem yet because iam missing the item yet

Tin can only be found very deep into the caves. You are more likely to get your first bits of tin ore as a random drop from a regular rock before you find your first tin node. You will actually see rocks that need bronze tools long before you get tin. that is intentional, you're supposed to get the power from bear first before progressing to bronze tools.

After the bear statue for me if I remember. It drops from regular rocks but the tin rocks and silver with black dots on them. I think i needed the bronze hoe upgrade to get to the area because it was blocked buy grass you can't cut with a obsidian hoe. I also got the bronze hoe prior to getting the bear power.
