Guidelines for rare/legendary animals after the update?

I've managed to find a rare and a legendary for some species that I wasn't really trying with, and only had a couple tamed, so the old rules don't seem to apply anymore.

Yet, I've tamed 40+ Ostriches (and keep one of every common colour) and have yet to see a rare/legendary. Is there a trick to getting rare/legendaries to spawn?

The devs mentioned somewhere (sorry, I can't find it offhand) that rare and legendary animals will spawn "once a season", and still have taming requirements. I'm working on keeping a male and female pair of each common colour, and I've had a rare Golden guencuno spawn. I don't have enough animals tamed yet to know if it's one rare animal of each type per season or just one total.

"once a season" sounds reasonable, so I don't have to check as obsessively now. Since, I managed to get a couple more legendaries (boar and ibex) and another rare (horse) for animals I only had a few of. I had a mating pair for each, so that seems to be one of the requirements.

Yes, for those who don't want to open the link, legendary animals of each type only show two specific days in a year, one specific day in a season and the same specific day in the second season after that season (example: legendary ostrich only shows on the 14th of summer and winter while legendary junglefowl only shows on the 10th of spring and fall).
Rare ones of each type only show 2 specifc days of two seasons : one of the rare guanacos only show on 5th and 19th of spring and fall, one of the rare bison only shows on 10th and 24th of spring and fall)

You should try to have at least four tamed animals of the specie you're looking for in your barn. 2 days before the specified day, release them. The day after, invite them in your barn again, so that the next day, your rare or legendary one may appear

The reason you probs havnt got the ostrich is because the ones in the field are 1/4 or more of there taming. Finish taming them and abandon them. The ones in the field should have never been sung to.
