A wonderful farming sim! It clearly draws inspiration from the games that came before it like stardew valley and harvest moon/story of season, and while still having a ton of unique elements that make it stand out.

I love that there aren't shops, you have to go and find the villager who makes tools if you want an upgrade, or go all the way to the forest to buy new clothes sometimes. Irrigation in place of sprinklers (which obviously wouldn't make sense in this time period) is also very fun. It takes a while to unlock it, but that makes it even more rewarding when you do. The cave system is an interesting mix of mining and puzzles, with no combat at all if that isn't something you enjoy. Opening more rooms feels more rewarding to me than simply descending another level. I do wish the in game map for the caves was more detailed, as it's hard to remember where some special points of interest were, and some rooms have very confusing layouts that would be nice to see on the map.

The pixel art is all gorgeous and charming. I love the design of the animals and the building interiors especially. If the game lacks anything right now, I would say I wish there were more clothing options. But it's a minor inconvenience, and they could always potentially add more.

The villagers all have a lot of life and character, and they aren't all perfect and nice either. There are misunderstandings and hurt feelings in the cut scenes, which adds a lot of depth. And the romance options are very diverse, so there's sure to be someone for everyone (I'm having a hard time picking between a couple options).

I've sunk almost 30 hours into the game without even realizing time was passing. If you like farming sims and you want something that feels fresh and exciting I couldn't recommend this game more.

This game is way too good. The mechanics are smooth, the characters designed peaked, and the story is great so far. The OST is top tier relaxing, I love the song for the Boar and the Savannah. It's easy and straight forward to understand as I had no trouble learning the game. I'm not even that far into the game yet, but man I cant wait for them to add more content to the game. These are some awesome people working on this game and a very awesome community as well.

Super fun and addictive. If you are looking for something to scratch that Stardew Valley itch, Roots of Patcha has enough to be fresh and original while giving you that same cozy, completionist feeling.
