You might need to check your Steam Input settings. Steam may have guessed its substitute mapping for non-controller games, where it's actually faking it and running on the keyboard/mouse interface. It does that when devs haven't set Steam properly about working with controller, and that would get you a mouse-pointer-style RS in play.

The game does have controller support, though it's wonky and very incomplete still. I wish the devs would talk to us here, since they clearly need some help on how the controller play should work, and the bugs it has.

Edit: Have confirmed that Steam Input does default to a WASD remapping like I was suggesting, so watch out for that, and the game's controller play has seen some improvements, so it is much more usable now, but still pretty wonky on some things and does not feel complete yet.

you mean pluggin my controller directly into my usb, and not using steam;s settings to emulate it there is wrong/
how about using a 360controller/
howabout using a ds4 an ds4 winows/
neither works right

No, I'm saying Steam Input could be choosing a controller mapping that replaces the controller inputs with mouse and keyboard inputs. Steam does that when it thinks the game doesn't know about controllers, and if it's doing that, it doesn't matter what controller you use, because it will map anything it knows to mouse and keyboard. It doesn't have anything to do with how you physically connect a controller either, as Steam Input is just a software handling layer to help games.

I just played on 360 controller and the aim in the levels is fairly standard "move RS in aim direction" twin-stick behavior, so either you're just being toxic or something is wrong. I know the Steam Input thing happens a lot to demos and early access games like this, where small devs have failed to set Steam right, and it would do what you seem to describe. Check the controller popup you get when you start the game. That should tell you what mapping Steam chose, and if it says something about WASD, then it needs to have the "Gamepad" template loaded because it guessed wrong.

If you're just complaining about the RS-as-mouse behavior in the menus and character select phase and thinking that's how the aiming works, it doesn't.

i played the game with both controller, the aiming IN GAME, not the menus - is not properly done.
you can act condescending all you want, or placate me by saying I was referring to menus only,
yes.
100% this.
now throw in some buzzwords, and your strawman is nearly complete!
oh wait, you said toxic already.
gotcha.

literally already constructed - I didn't even need to bullit point them.

I'm not condescending--I am trying to offer help despite how difficult you are being, because the devs seem to pretty much ignore non-Chinese posts, and you're describing a problem I've seen in a bunch of games.

The in-level play does not act like you describe. If you are going to attack me for helping, work it out yourself.

I like that Tyrians advice actually helped me. It isnt about which controller you use, its about steam settings. Steam automatically changes button layouts for ANY controller sometimes. Cheers

Thanks, Tyrian. That helped me out, too.
