Cradle gear and weapons

What do you have to do in order to unlock crafting for the weapons and cradle gear?

You have to finish the first batch of commissions. Just keep chipping away and you'll see the dividends eventually. Your first unlocked craft is the Spider, if I'm remembering right. Might be a waste to try and craft a new set unless you have the time/resources. Just make sure you're always insuring your coffin before an expedition. That way you can just buy it from the item shop if something goes wrong. The Spider and Birdwatcher are pretty nice early coffins.

Alternatively, there's nothing wrong with the Jack. It does what you need.
