BToads was kinda the same way. The best game in the series was the crossover with Double Dragon. Otherwise it was bare bones beat-em-up stuff that was completely outdone by River City Random, Double Dragon, etc... a complete style over substance situation. The pattern memorization mechanics were the barrier to entry, and not really much different than putting in a code to a timer.
All that said, the actual combat in this one in my whole one level of play felt pretty good, though sounds were weak as hell and the forced humor was really bad. No worse than saturday morning cartoons the BToads were always trying to rip off though. Fight'n Rage or a few dozen other modern beat-em ups are smoking this one... just like old times.
Yeah exactly. KI remake is an excellent game.
Another factor was the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficult, in wich if you didn't memorized the stage and know every trick you would get frustrated, but becomes easy once you learnt how to beat each stage. I don't know if this battletoad version will deliver this part of the game.
What most people are complaining is that everything looks soo cute and childish, i personally hate that idea, they also removed that "pause" effect you had when executing some enemy with a massive attack, that thing wich was really funny to see was removed also in the arcade version tho. But they compensated with many violent and funny animations when killing enemies.
I wouldn't hate a game just for the artstyle, the new arty style might suck but maybe the gameplay is good.
