Does sanbox truly unlock everything?

Just got into the game and noticed in the sandbox mode it says you have access to everything but I saw in the challenges section that their were locked cosmetic genes.
When you play sandbox does it just give you access to the locked genes or do I need to do the challenges and properly unlock them?

this is false. you can use the indominus rex in sandbox mode without even playing challenge mode.

All dinos are unlocked in sandbox mode though depending on settings you might have to reseach and collect them.

Sandbox is where you can customize map, dinosaur, and other stuff in the settings. You need to unlock specific skins, either from completing challenges and such, or by purchasing DLCS.
