Universal is incredibly weird about this and I’d be willing to bet 99.9999% it has nothing to do with Frontier.
Universal Logic
Dinosaur on Dinosaur violence = encouraged.
Human on Human violence = encouraged.
Dinosaur on human violence= ok but mostly censored.
Human on Dinosaur violence= Not ok at all, never show it. It might piss Peta off.
Wasn't JPOG also licensed by Universal?
True. Maybe they're just aiming for a younger audience. Jurassic Park wasn't originally aimed at kids, but a lot of kids took an interest because dinosaurs. So maybe as of Jurassic World, the whole thing was designed more with kids in mind? That or, as you say, it's just not kosher to show humans harming dinosaurs in 2021.
Probably.
In JPOG we have blood and guts from preys, in JWE....nothing, they eat a goat like if they eating the air....
Yeah, I really miss that stuff in JWE. Even the humans had blood and gore effects.
A dinosaur eats a guest (and you can hear their mobile phone ring in their belly) they get tranq's and move them back to the enclosure that they just escaped from.
For realism sake, if you had a predator maul a guest, they would likely be euthanized. (The concern is if they turn once, then they could easily do it again.) The only way to RP this current would be to Sell the dino.
But creating a dinosaur is a scientific miracle that costs millions. They would think twice before shooting such a thing.
Lord Trilobites other point is even more valid.
It litterally adds nothing to the game, that we don't have already.
Oh yeah and the result was
- scared the Indominus off without killing it
- setting free a fleet of flying reptiles
- flying reptile attack on Main Street
- death of several people including the CEO leaving the place in shambles to be taken over by mercs
and in the end the Indominus Rex did more damage to itself clawing out her transponder than that gun ever did.
On the other hand in the game's... many, many branching timelineuniversedimensionscenarios, ACU is actually drilled about the Indominus Rex and *can* take it out with nonlethal means - exactly the action Simon Masrani first tried. He only allowed the use of that gun after the Indominus Rex merk'd the entire ACU detachment. The game just lets ACU show us why the park ran for ten years without deaths. The movie severly nerfed them because Wu didn't tell anybody that he created a homicidal maniac with super powers.
