Challenge Jurassic mode is a bit too hard
Hi,

I think it's a bit too hard. The herbivore dinosaurs available at the beginning are either worthless regarding attraction value or they're fighting themselve even if comfort is at 100%. The carnivores can't be used at the beginning because research time is too long until you get living food station, which in turn causes the dinos to break through the fences.

Hire and fire scientists at need as suggested by some guides doesn't really help to manage finances at the beginning, because if you need to hire again you waste more money for the hiring fee.
So, I think it needs just a little tweak - at least the available (herbivore) dinos at the beginning should be of higher attraction and don't tend to fight themselve.

Regards

Make a bunch of Struthies (cos they’re cheap) and feed them to the carnivores?

As a bonus you should get some nice infamous carnivores to help attract Adventure guests,

Just try untill you can get a positive income. Once it is done, there is no difficulty at all. You need to learn what you need to research/build/breed first and every challenge will be the same easy walk. Die-and-retry-like

Yes the difficulty is insane, specially in Jurassic difficulty. In the first game I never had a Problem.
Yes fire your scientists get reach a positive income, it's the only way to do it. But after that it's stupid how difficult it becomes. Every 10min or 15 you have a storm with 0 income and 0 stars, every 20 your beasts get sick everytime it's something else and if there are to many Dinos in the same place you can't put them into quarantine to make the research, so EVERY single one shall die......I always complain when it's to easy, but this is not hard... it's Just ridiculous how insane it is.....

I was impressed by the difficulty spike playing the Jurassic Challenge Modes, but in the end I ate up the challenge and really liked the way the different maps would throw curve balls at you the lower difficulties didn't really get to land.

If you are interested in guides I have a playlist with videos of me beating all the challenge maps on the highest difficulties. They play somewhere between let's plays and guides but they will give you a good picture on how I started all my runs.

Jurassic Mode is supposed to be hard (or unfair?). I'm no masochist, so I personally stay clear of these type of modes. I did try hard mode once, and it was doable.

Totally.
And if it's "too hard"....maybe try it with a lowest difficulty? ;)
Yep - Jurassic difficulty is supposed to be the hardest difficulty, so it shouldn't be a big surprise when it's... well, hard. Plus you don't need to complete it for any unlocks - it's purely there for the challenge and the achievements.

So far, I agree with Mazore. The start is the hardest part but once you get some cash coming in, it's relatively smooth sailing from there on. You'll need to have a reasonable build order for the early game though and, if you're still struggling with setting up a profitable park, then practising on a lower difficulty first is probably a good idea.

My experience so far:

Canada. Probably the toughest start I've played so far because of the higher scientist wages and research costs. Right at the start, having the spare cash to put a whole 100 fuel in a generator rather than 50, feels like a big achievement. :) Lots of photography and using the freebie Brachiosaurus right from the start were the keys here.

Germany. Very forgiving financially, mostly because the 100% genome requirement for new dinosaurs slows things down a bit. If you're making any sort of profit at all, you'll be accumulating a decent bank balance between dino unlocks. Germany is much more of a park layout test - you have a total of ten species to use, so you need to choose wisely. Top tip: the mission description is a bit misleading - there are a couple of high Appeal aquatic reptiles you can use, or flying reptiles if they're your thing. Disease management is a bit of a pest too - keep a quarantine paddock handy for the early to mid game until you've researched a bunch of cures.

United Kingdom. Beginning is tricky (I highly recommend the Steam guide) but after that, this map is straightforward. You should have at least two sets of freebie dinosaurs by the time you're done with the start, possibly a third and, if you want, a fourth. They're only Coelies, so not exactly high Appeal, but they don't take up much space either and any Appeal helps to start with.

Storms are rougher than usual, so if you'v been used to using basic fences for everything (since happy dinosaurs don't escape), you probably want to go back to using stronger fences, make sure you have backup power for every paddock, and maybe put down a few more Rangers than you've been used to using, so you have some spare teams for quick damage repair.

Thank you all for your answers. Well, I'll try as suggested until I come beyond the start up phase, which seems to be the hardest step.
