Worth it?
I played the first game and enjoyed it very much. Is this one worth buying? I feel like it’ll just be a repeat of the first game and not sure if it’s worth buying.

It's merely a repeat, with the exception of better dino battles, more flying reptiles and finally some water creatures that got completely left out in JWE.

The campaign is a tutorial that can be completed within 2 hours.

The Chaos Theory mode isn't that good either, compared to the original with the 5 deaths as playground.

The challenge mode is nice and maybe I simply got used to far worse fails in JWE, but I really enjoy that one.
Except of occasional crashes, merely happening when using the fast forward option.

And yeah, you can now directly pause gameplay (||), play in normal speed (>), accelerate (>>) and even accelerate the time one step further (>>>).
So that's a nice addition.

Another neat addition is that you can fly out dinosaurs from hatcheries. So you basically can build just one hatchery and release all dinosaurs from there by flying them into the desired enclosre (or release them directly into the enclosure the hatchery is built into, as in original JWE).

I personally expected a bit more of it, but after completing the tutorial... ehm... campaign and the chaos mode, I at least enjoy the first challenge.

Sandbox requires everything to be unlocked again, but there are already player files on Nexus with 100%. :)

It's a sequel, so a lot of the same beats will be there. Expect no different from a sequel. However, what's there is vastly improved over the first game particularly in the fields of visuals and dinosaur behaviors.

This video shows some of the behaviors, but not the visuals because ugh 720p video.

It's on 30% discount just a month after release - which is a good indicator of its quality.

Not until they let us Research and do expeditions in sandbox mode.

True, and I've been playing it for about more-so over an hour and I've been having fun so far with the campaign. I heard people were finishing it within 2 hours and I wished it was a bit longer.

Yeah, it's more of the same...if you ignore all of the major design changes and mechanics overhauls. This would not have worked as a simple DLC. I don't know what you people are smoking. If this game were released as a DLC, you'd load in, and all of your dinosaurs would be unhappy, because their needs would have all changed.

Dinosaurs are raised in batches now, rather than incubating one dino at a time. This makes it easier to get pack dinos to their minimum population requirements, and you can release them all at once. This also allows for some random results when synthesizing a new batch, as each egg may have different traits. You can pick which to keep for incubation and which to discard.

Gene modification is also chance based now, instead of simply having a higher chance of failure the more changes you make. For example, if you want to increase your dino's lifespan, increasing the gene that does that would increase the likelihood of a egg having that trait by 25%. You could increase it all the way to 100%, or you could increase your chances for another stat instead.

They didn't just add new flying reptiles. They changed how they worked entirely. Before, you have an aviary in a set in stone shape and size, and you didn't need to feed them or anything. You could watch them from specific camera angles, but that was it. Now, they're more engaging. You can choose the size and shape of their enclosure, as well as edit what is inside and view the creatures from any angle you want. If you don't properly take care of them, they can die or break loose. I haven't unlocked the aquatic reptiles yet, so I can't speak on them. But yes, they're new.

Additionally, there are the new scientists, which change how pretty much everything is done in the park. You could not just add these to the previous game. It would have been too drastic of a change.

Then there are the customizable buildings, where the shape, decorations, and colors can all be changed. I suppose people expected to get those in a free update? lol

I mean sheesh. What qualifies as a sequel to you people? You expect them to scrap every resource from the original and start over from scratch?

If you want my opinion, yes. It is absolutely worth it. I played a lot of the original game, and I loved it. This one, in my opinion, is a major improvement. It's very addicting. Once I start, it's hard to stop.

People call it DLC because theres no option to travel to Skyrim and become Dragonborn.

Wow I love this, thank you so much for your input. I definitely agree with you, this game is very addicting and I do think the second game is an improvement from the first. I like this campaign more than the first game since the tutorials for the second game were better haha.
