Will we be able to kill dinosaurs?
It was a bit immersion breaking in the last game that we couldn't kill dinosaurs for whatever reason. Imagine the bad press if a lion or other creature broke containment in a modern zoo and killed a person, then ate them, and the zoo simply tranquilized the lion and put it back in its enclosure to be on display the next day. It will also be one of those things where tranqs can be used but take time to take down a dino, where lethal force immediately kills it, so you have to decide if using a tranq is worth the possibility of a park guest being killed.

Information is limited right now so can't answer this question exactly, in the first game best you could do is use the tranq and not wake them up or move them, leaving them to die, second game also has tranqs, but haven't seen use of lethal rounds in the gameplay videos that are out.

As far as we know, not directly. But you could possibly kill a dinosaur using another one.

Dinos will wake up now that wont work

I don't think so, I think the media standards have changed and they don't depict that kind of stuff anymore.

So we can have dinosaurs kill each other or the human park guests get eaten in their dozens and the dev doesn't care, but it draws the line at shooting a dinosaur with a gun to kill it? What kind of clown world are we living in?

I guess. 18-20 years ago it was ok for people to buy and sell animals in zoo games or kill them, but recently a lot those games are having you "adopt" animals, and instead of killing them you can only tranquilize them. Not sure if it's actually happened, but all that points to the occurrence of some kind of paradigm shift.

Probably because the devs think all zoo game players are PETA loving, self hating idiots.

Well, if that's the case with this game, it'll be a missed opportunity for sure. They could add in all sorts of pros and cons for using lethal force vs tranquilizing, based upon the situation. Guess the game just won't be that deep.

Zoos will kill animals when they threaten the lives of people or have killed a zookeeper and such.

So I dont see why PETA has to come into the issue.

If a regular zoo isnt shy about shooting a lion that is a threat to visitors, surely the JW security division kills animals.

After all, they did use miniguns, assault rifles and a freaking missile launcher against the Indominus

PETA views animal lives as on par with human, if not superior. That's why the joke came into play.

And yes, in the movies, they turned to lethal weapons. In the game, though, they are nowhere to be found. I'm not saying I want to fly a helicopter armed with a minigun in a zoo game (I mean, I might...) but to not have any lethal option and to ignore all the possibilities of choosing between one or the other...

It's not about what real zoos do, it's about what zoo and park building games are portraying today, and what they are doing is not allowing you to kill them directly. Sure you can still starve them to death, have them fight to the death or hunted by predators, but killing zoo animals directly doesn't seem to be allowed anymore. That's just the trend now; and honestly I could care less about not being able to kill the dinosaurs. It's just that this is probably the most likely answer to the OP's question.

So its okay to starve your animals, a slow and painful death, or have them fight club.

But oh no, you're not allowed to use a bullet to the brain...

If you ask me, out of those you listed, the bullet is the more humane option.

That's the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.

Dinos can kill each other as they do that mostly for food or territorial reasons.
Dinos can kill humans too as humans are scums..
We should not shoot them as they are beatiful and innocent.

At Jurassic World, they tried to kill i-rex with assault rifles.. to be honest, in every dino action movies, humans use guns against big dinos which that never works.. You need something big like a cannon to kill a big dino.. I don't think guests would be so happy to see gattling cannons at park. And the sound of those weapons would be much worse then an escaped dino. All dinos can go crazy because of sounds and guests wil panic everywhere at park.

So firearms or big weapons are not so logical to use at a park. Tranq or electro shock would be more wise.

In Jurassic World, they didn't portray guns accurately (especially the minigun with the fire rate of a WW1 water cooled MG), but that's a standard hollywood trope by now. Even so, in Fallen Kingdom, Blue almost died from a pistol shot and would have without human intervention.

A .50 cal sniper rifle or M2 HMG would be enough to down any dinosaur that ever existed with the exception perhaps of any of the ankylosaurs. Herbivores aren't really the problem though, it's the carnivores, and a .50 cal would do for any of those. Most would die to a 7.62.

For the flying dinos, Jurassic World showed that the producers did not consult any paleontologists because all of those were actually fish eaters and would not have attacked humans.

Remember the lethal gene we had in JPOG. Sure it was a convenient of dealing with problematic dinosaurs, but it was really brutal when you thought about.
