Yeah, those are good points. Also, after thinking about it for the past few days, I think I'll be getting the game anyways.
I also didn't really have an agenda for this post beyond "caveat emptor".

I only just discovered Messenger days ago after trying this SoS demo. Last night I got a hidden bit of missable dialogue where the Shopkeeper mentions Jordan by first name and gives a super condensed summary of some of Peterson's popular self help advice.
So if that's still in there, maybe there was yet another reference that did get removed. I'm talking about the one about the cabinet at the last shop entrance in Glacial Peak just before the Tower.
No need. He's still named in the current version of Messenger.
Like, is the screenshot of the dm legit? Was Jordan the Wise appreciation or a dig at Jordan Peterson? (I didn't play The Messenger and all I know about this subject is this and about 20 minutes of subsequent internet searching.)
Guess I'd like to know what their actual stance is on the matter.
In Messenger, HEAVY SPOILERS JUST GO PLAY MESSENGER IT'S AMAZING SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS the scroll the ninja is chosen to deliver has has been passed down through generations for ages and is literally a map. Its next destination is 500 years in the future when a demon army is going to attack again.
There's these wise (and wise-cracking) blue robed figures in a metaphysical world you access through save points, who guide you and tell you old stories in optional dialogue. You discuss their meaning in a comical way with them.
One of the big reveals and heartfelt moments of the game is you reaching the beginning point of the game 500 years later and passing on the map scroll to the next messenger. You realize the blue robed guys are actually those among previous messengers who haven't failed their quest to deliver the map to the next one. You take up the blue robe yourself and take your place inside the save point to aid the next messenger.
Yeah, The Messenger is a parody game. The characters take digs at 2d platforming mechanics and various common game tropes the game itself uses. They're all cute homages, not hateful criticism.
Its core plot and the mini stories the blue robed guys tell you are all comedy, so you could say it's a dig at Peterson and philosophers of the Traditionalist school or a dig at the idea of "wisdom" of passing on old stories. But not all digs are disavowal. And some of the best and funniest ones are praise.
You're not the good person you think you are.
