Due to recent events, I find his inclusion in the game and the nature of the character depicted extremely insulting. I feel that if things are not conclusively settled with the Indieland scandal, Sabotage Studio needs to remove him from the game and make a apology statement to their customers for their participation in this alleged charity fraud.

Nothing is proven until Jirard is found gulity before a Judge. Right now all we have is the usual stupid Online Witch Hunt of someone who could be innocent.

Not everything requires a court of law to determine the facts. Courts are not infallible either. The dude admitted they never donated. That alone is damning enough even assuming they actually still have the money and that it was all reported. Numbers don't lie and it seems even worse than what is already really bad.

If the devs actually cared about how this stains the game, they should patch their game. They can just hear the recorded admission themselves and check the tax fillings if they want to be sure. Heck, reach out to the foundation and give him a few days to respond. We all know he's not going to say ♥♥♥♥ because he's guilty as hell.

its funny because this is definitely what the game is going to be remembered for. I know Jirard the Constructionist more than any of the other characters and have to assume Mirth is somehow just a front for theft/money laundering/tax fraud in muh fantasy games. Is there an IRS in Sea of Stars?

It appears they finally donated an even 600K only after getting called out. That still leaves tens if not hundred of thousands of dollars not accounted for. The amount stinks of the minimum to match what was already reported and an attempt to hang onto the rest. It also doesn't even cover the huge amount wasted by not having it collect interest over a decade. We'll never know how much they kept without an external audit but the game devs are still silent so remember folks if you want to buy this game, enjoy your little reminder of charity fraud.

Jick's lawyers finally responded on his youtube channel, completely ignoring the story changes, the lies and the fact that the donation happened after 10 years, immediately after the accusations. If they did nothing illegal, there was really no need to step down as director, or to not just wait another 10 years to find the perfect charity instead of rushing the decision.

Now the ex-director who for the best part of a decade was completely unaware that his company hadn't done anything yet, is simultaneously claiming to have taken responsibility for all his mistakes and threatening to sue Karl and Mutahar because of course none of this is his fault or responsibility!

whatever they do will either piss of Jid's fanbase or his detractors. Given that one side likes throwing out lawsuits and probably involves some agreement or contract, the best thing to do right now would be nothing tho.

Jirard's response is so gross and he obviously is a narcissist with no sense of shame or responsibility. Well, hope the devs like having this cancer in their game. Maybe next time, don't put cameos of a YouTubers.

Yeah, I was surprised to find Angry Joe in Wrestling Quest. I have not bought this game, but I am considering it. But I am not a fan of the fact Jirad is in this game.

It's a shame I love the game, this does put a black mark on it. End of the day it's up to the developers to keep the cameo or not. I'd remove him. End of the day I want this game to succeed. It's my GOTY choice. Too much work and passion was put into this, to allow a charity scammer to taint it is just soul crushing.

Dude's a massive scammer who sat on charity contributions for a decade. That's a decade of potential research lost. It makes me sick that anyone would defend this "man" (I use this word loosely). As soon as the crap hits the fan, it actually goes to where it should've a decade ago, making his whole excuse as to why he didn't give it to the charities in the first place completely bogus, as was obvious beforehand.

He's a terrible person whose internet fame belongs in the trash heap of history.
