How to know where to go ?

Is there a clue or something? Since this game has no journal or quest info some times after forgetting my mission i have to go watch walkthrough till i reach my point in story -_-

Make camp and talk to your companions, they tend to give clues.

Once you get the map, it shows you where to go as well. But basically it's all pretty straightforward. You can't really go anywhere except where it wants you to go, until you have a map.
