Throes of the Watchmaker DLC Start
Under the recent Kickstarter update (you have to scroll through the comments) Sabotage confirmed that the DLC will be accessed by talking to the pirates on The Vespertine at any time after defeating Dweller of Dread in Seraï's world.

The Dweller of Dread is pretty much endgame level stuff. After defeating him Valere and Zale gain the ability to fly. I guess it has to be that way since Arty is a playable character and Caël and the kids only transform into him near the end of the game.

Unfortunately that means that you have to play through the whole game again if you don't have your save file anymore (besides just using someone else's).

Interestingly under the same post they said that all new classes and characters will only be playable in the DLC. Sounds like they will give us a fresh start in the DLC world. Otherwise I think it would be way too easy to breeze through it with your New Game + characters.

How do you guys feel about this?

It's a free DLC so I'm fine with not being able to carry over my stats and levels. As for the save ordeal. Maybe I'll see if I have a save at that point and share it.

Honestly I kind of wish it was simply a main menu option to go into this DLC like the Tales of Arise DLC is, so it doesn't require having a save at a specific point to access. Wouldn't have been an issue if it released day one... but I'm not sure most people have a save at the right point to jump right in and idk about replaying the whole game any time soon.

I agree. A main menu option would have been better imho. I understand that they want the DLC to fit in canonically. But why don't they simply tie it to getting a certain achievement? There are in game achievements as well therefore this would work across all platforms.

As soon as you get or already have "Enter the Artificer" or "Dweller of Strife" a message box could pop up telling you that the DLC is now accessible from the main menu.

One very important question please: Will Serai get her face back?

Doesn't seem like she's even in the DLC.

The whole Pirate Crew is there though... Maybe Seraï was abducted?

idk... the DLC is focused on Zale, Valerie, and the one new party member. While Zale & Valerie are getting a new job class. So they want to only have these three playable so you have to use the new abilities and whatnot for however short or long the DLC is.

I haven't seen any DLC footage where the other party members are shown being part of combat. And on the website it only lists these 3 under "playable characters"... pretty much confirming that.

I don't think Seraï will be playable but isn't it suspicious that the whole crew is there? The DLC seems to be focused on the Valere, Zale and the Watchmaker so why include them and not Seraï? This is why I think she will be tied to the story in some form or another (-> giving the rest of the pirate crew motivation and reason to be there in the first place).

Just realised: In the full trailer on Sabotage Studios YouTube Page you can see Seraï dressed as Captain Klee'shae in the first couple of scenes on the Vespertine and in the Clockwork Tower. Interestingly she isn't seen inside of Horloge even when the rest of the crew is shown...
