if you keep this mindset up will you never enjoy a game in the near future again.
i give you an example:
all the war games do literarly the same right?
its just WW2 all over again and again and again. BUT! and here comes the big but, its all in a different setting. even tho those games do literarly the same dumb stuff over and over again is it not really the same because the place/world/whatever is different.
even if what you say becomes the truth, be happy that you have a new chrono trigger in a new world setting. wouldnt that be nice?
your mindset is literarly "games do the same over and over again."
which is "technicly" the truth. its rare that nowadays a game invents something completely new and has never done before but, if you get stuck stuff like i said with the WW2 games and think too much about "what is the same" and "what is different" will you notice that A TON of games do the same like other games.
so, thinking to much about it will just cause the "every game is the same for me" effect.
therefore will you have never again really fun with a game. so, i recomment you to not think too much about it. if it is, then it is. if not, then not.
i can tell you already that this game does a lot in the same way like any other rpg because its the core. so yea, this game will be literarly to like atleast 40% like any other rpg.
Well the game comes out tomorrow, I was just curious if anyone had the same feelings as me about the two lead protagonists. I just hope that they are distinct enough to feel like their own char.
i doubt i missunderstood you because you look at Chrono trigger and then look you at sea of stars "what is the same?"
you compare sea´s of stars to chrono trigger and actively looking "are there similiarities?!"
thats how, what i described, starts.
to say it in short, aka TL;TR:
i doubt their storys will be the same and/or will match etc. x3.
I played the demo. At that time, I felt that the characters, Valere and Zeal, were much too similar to each other and that they had no distinctive traits in their personality, outside their combat abilities. I am worried that in the full game, they will also feel that way.
Am I still going to buy the game? yes, of course. But that doesn't mean I don't have reservations about the game, based on what I played of the demo. And yes, it was "just" a demo, but its what i've experienced so far and that is my current assessment.
is the same personality really that bad? *shrugs*
Being that they are the foremost protagonists, it certainly can be. No one wants stoic, empty personalities being carried by the rest of the cast
Of course they are different in those ways, but its their personalities that will distinguish them as characters. Many people really like Garl, and that is because his personality shines through very easily; the writing, his personality, his antics all make up his character and it shows. I got none of that from the main duo. Ofc I hope that they distinguish themselves personality-wise from each other as it could potentially stagnant the party's ability to be enjoyable.
