Hold the button to reel them in, don't tap it.
Keep the fish in that blue river looking area between your fishing lure... you reel them in faster that way.
When the line starts to flash red, stop reeling and wait for them to jump out of the water to daze them again...
It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it... it's one of the easier fishing games... it's Wheels that really sticks it in and breaks it off... that mini game sucks ass.
It took me ages to work out that the blue line is the zone (because it's not super visible)
- Press A to cast the line, A again to "drop" the bob and use left-right to sway the bob as it hits the water.
- On catch, try to drag the fish into the "safe zone" (right in the bright blue line) and use A to begin reeling the fish in. Attempting to reel when the fish isn't in the zone will make the line tense, and eventually snap.
- If the fish jumps, re-pressing A will "jerk" the line and stun the fish, making it unable to fight your line for about 5 seconds.
Success is when you snap the fish up. Failure is if the line snaps.
Note to only attempt reeling if it is in the zone. Otherwise you're not making headway and you're making the line tense. Unlock the fishing hut plans, and invite the fisher to Mirth to upgrade your lines based on your catches.
Since me and my kids are playing on 3 different monitors, tv at home and you clearly see it on each one of them.
Hi Insubordination,
Did you watch my video about how to fish?

Hope it helps!
There's no benefit to releasing the fish. Instead, follow this simple process to make easy money: Catch all the fish in the lake -> exit -> reenter the lake, all the fish will respawn -> catch them all again - rinse and repeat until you are satisfied, then sell them all to a Merchant. I guess they added the release option to make it more realistic; some people just enjoy fishing and, once they've caught a fish, they release it back into the water.
