Reliable Way/Place to Make Gold
Title says it all; is there a reliable and relatively quick method to make more gold in the game? A place to farm it, or farm items to sell, etc. Every single article online just says "open up chests" or "fishing", but fishing up an entire pond of fish that cost 1 to 2 gold per pop isn't going to get me enough money to buy a relic that costs 888 gold. Some are saying to sell cooked meals and, fair, but you're going to get to a point where you're either going to spend more money buying raw materials to cook with, or backtracking to areas that have them, wasting more time.

Feels like there should be a more efficient way to get gold, but I'm still pretty early in the game, so I would love to know in advance.

Later in the game there will be two places where you can harvest a lot of different ingredients (around 75) which you can sell. After a while these will replenish.

As far as I'm aware, cooked meals just sell for the combined cost of the ingredients so that doesn't really do anything. You can skip a step and just sell the ingredients. Fishing is genuinely the best way to quickly make gold, especially early on in the game if you're trying to buy that relic the first time you get to Brisk. The fishing spot north of Brisk is probably the best in the game anyway as there are always only 3 man of wars that essentially give 2 gold each. All the other fish in the pond will give you 3. It's guaranteed money, fast and easy to reset, you're definitely not going to find anything better where you're at

Does the money glitch still work on the recent patch? Steam got one 2 days ago.

If not, later Garl will get a combo skill "Item Roulette" that can give 100 ~ 300G with a piggy bank depending on boosts used.

Human enemies, like the bandits in moorlands, also give some gold, iirc, and late in the game you can kill them quickly, leave and reenter to make them respawn (dunno if this is better than fishing, though).

Genuinely the best money farm in the game is getting good at the timing for item roulette and rolling the piggy bank with it. If you can consistently do it then you can max out your gold very quickly. Outside of that it’s really just going to the few places in the game that give you mad food ingredients and selling the ingredients.

At what point in the game does that become available?

Fishing nets you 2-3 fish filet or seafood per fish. Haven't counted the fish for each spawn, but I'd estimate around 15 or so and they respawn when you leave and come back. So you can net around 30-60 gold each time you clean out the pond. Early game this is going to be the main method of gold farming. Later on, you'll be swimming in cooking ingredients to sell though and there are multiple places where you can grab them in pretty high quantities. At a certain point you can farm the quiz game for saleable treasures (not sure if this can be repeated over and over as I haven't tried).

Literally just got it, so I'm gonna give that a shot.

So I did a battle and got the piggy bank twice. I went into the battle with 500 something gold. The battle ended and I got 4 coins, thinking "man that's lame" at first. Then I checked my gold. It was now 999, stating "max". Apparently the maximum gold in this game is 999... And yeah, it's easy to max it with Item Roulette, lol.

Yeah and you can get it multiple times in a single battle and it will stack, making it entirely possible to max out your gold in one battle.
Just wanted to thank everyone who suggested Piggy Bank. It's really made my life so much easier. Literally just pop it three times and you've maxed out your cash.

I haven't finished the game yet, but Piggy Bank is only useful up to a certain point.

And by that I mean I only discovered this thread after Garl died.

That's only partially true.
