Are Valere and Zale siblings or lovers?

Hello, I've been watching the dev plays on the steam page and was interested in this game. However, I don't understand the dynamic between Valere and Zale. They seem interconnected but I couldn't quite pin down their exact relationship. Are they siblings or lovers? I read somewhere that they were born six months apart, which hints they aren't siblings, but also I don't know if the gestation period for children is the same in the game's world as it is in real life.

neither. they are born the same year but not the same date are not related and from what i know they are not lovers.

Despite all of fiction trying to prove otherwise, it is possible for a boy and a girl to be just friends. Mind, their relationship isn't really fleshed out all that much, so you can fill in the blanks with just about anything you like (as far as I know, not having finished the game yet).

Pretty much this. If you ever watched the Star Wars prequels, they're like the Jedi in those, all about the job, no real emotions. I just don't know if their stoicism is intentional in this case.
They do get quite emotional later on in the game but at that point it's more of a jarring shift than anything.

Most of this thread is rather inaccurate, they are childhood friends, they're very close for the entire game, but the game doesn't feel the need to constantly reinforce this. Going deeper than this would be spoiler-ish. Garl speaks for the two heroes much more than they do themselves, which fits the fact they spent 10 years isolated in training. Garl and a mage character you acquire much later are the social faces of the party.

theyre not lovers. imagien spedning every single second of every day for 10 years with a person starting from age 5. are you gonna be their loiver afterwards? i think not.

I get a "step-sibling" kind of feel from them. Like, they're not related by blood, but they've grown up together for so long that they feel like direct family.

Definitely looked like Siblings or best friends to me, no romantic relations at all though. Also they are really bland compared to most other characters which isn't ridiculous when you see that they were locked in a building in the sky for ten years with minimal human interaction.

This makes the most sense. There are scenes that make it very clear they care deeply about each other. It's best left up to the player to determine whether they want that to be closer to a family bond or to a romantic relationship.
