Pretty much this. If you ever watched the Star Wars prequels, they're like the Jedi in those, all about the job, no real emotions. I just don't know if their stoicism is intentional in this case.
They do get quite emotional later on in the game but at that point it's more of a jarring shift than anything.

theyre not lovers. imagien spedning every single second of every day for 10 years with a person starting from age 5. are you gonna be their loiver afterwards? i think not.
I get a "step-sibling" kind of feel from them. Like, they're not related by blood, but they've grown up together for so long that they feel like direct family.
