it's a classing JRPG not a modern handholdathon, I think you're looking for the Ubisoft forum.

Was that suppose to be funny? You overshot the mark on that one. More of a troll.

Seems you brought ubisoft forums how are they, seems you know about that.

whats with all this aggression
theres literally 0 purpose for having a map in this game and if you play it you'll know why
im unsure if you get one late game or whatever but i dont see a purpose for it, and im someone with a very weak memory.

The game world is intentionally small, it's not even as large as Chrono Trigger, it's more like Super Mario RPG in terms of size and density. Super easy to remember where everything is, and mostly linear, you go from area to area to progress...
I see posts like this and I get shivers from the fact that some people really do want every game to be the exact same thing.

no need for either.....

It's definitely larger than Chrono Trigger lol. Chrono has multiple timeline though, that gives the illusion of larger world.

You eventually acquire a map and the ability to track progress across islands.

nice, i love maps. tho i agree this game dont really need one, or quest markers or logs or any of that. would be like having a quest log for super mario go to world 1.1, go to world 1.2

When I posted that I wasn't in the open section yet. But surprise, you get a map as soon as you get to that part.
So yeah, you get a map when you need one, not every game needs objective markers.

I love this game but it's a major problem. If you miss the line of dialogue that tells you where you're supposed to go, or you return to the game after a while and forgot what your objective is, there is literally no way of finding out within the game. This is not good. A simple objective system to remind returning players where they should be headed should be added.
