We're re-working the keybinding for the full game.
Appreciate the feedback! <3
Glad to hear it. I only figured out the 'return' button was alt by accident, as I was hitting ctrl+alt+delete to shut down the game that way as I couldn't figure out how the get out of the 'how to play' part of the menu. If you gonna have an unusual key-bind for something you should at least have a visual or written indicator for what it is.
I personally found space-bar an odd select button too, though at least it was easier to figure out thanks to the 'hold (visual indicator for space-bar) to proceed' part prior to main menu. However then you also used enter prior to seeing the menu and that's a much more intuitive select button for me, so it did still take me a second to realize it was space-bar and not enter.
It also felt off that I couldn't use the arrow keys to navigate the start menu. Them not being an option for character movement is one thing (though it would be nice if they were), but not even for menu navigation? That was really weird to me.
