Controller problem and Loading forever.
So i recently wanted to fire up Overcooked: all you can eat again. After having beat overcooked1, and half of overcooked 2 content "in all you can eat" previously with no issues what so ever, i begrudingly tried to continue my playthrough with a friend today after having played the game for 2 weeks or so. Now the controller wont connect in the game half of the time, even when i get the controller to load so i can press A, the second controller/player simply will not register... when pressing A on the secondary controller i do hear the sound, as if a player joins, and pressing B will play the dismissal sound. But no second player whatso ever becomes visible. In addition i cant even start the friggin game, i am stuck on an Infinite loadscreen when i try to just load the campaign. I have tried verifying game cache and also reinstalling the game. My controllers work PERFECTLY fine with any other game i throw at them, (brand new Xbox series controllers with wireless adapters). I can still play overcooked 2 (not in the all you can eat edition) without a fault... and im not seeing issues in any other games, nor have i had any isssues with "all you can eat" prior to this point in time.... What has happened? is the game especially sensitive to minor system changes or other programs?
im kinda baffled at how this game can be so broken all of a sudden, when nothing else is acting up, and thus i am at a TOTAL loss of where to start, as a lot of minor things and programs can be installed in the cause of 2 weeks.... I feel like ive bought a product, that is now somehow broken.

Greetings Fyrendos,

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the controller. Let's try the below to see if it helps at all:

  1. Unplug the controller
  2. Launch the Steam client and click the controller icon at the top right to enter Big Picture Mode
  3. Go to Settings > Controller Settings and make sure that "Playstation/Xbox/Generic Configuration Support" are all toggled on.
  4. Then simply plug your controller and retest the game

Yeah, Well right now the controller issue is the least of my problems. As I also mentioned even if I get one controller to work, I cant make it into my saved game, it simply loads forever! When I try to close the game from the menu it often crashes. Even more strangely after overcooked all you can eat has crashed on exiting (I exit because I cant get it to work) I have to do a restart because all games wont load after having tried running overcooked....
Mind you, and this is VERY important: I have NO issue whatsoever launching and loading any other game or using my controller in Any other game (this includes overcooked 2 as the base game). My problems in other games ONLY starts after i have tried to run overcooked, and if i dont reboot after, if I reboot my machina functions flawlessly until the moment I run Overcooked all you can eat.

And again, the game seemed to work fine just 2 weeks ago or something, now it seems to be broken beyond comprehension

And now, all of a sudden after having written a Wall of Text, everything Works again

Ok spoke too soon, it seemed like a random fluke that it Worked. Closed the game, tried to open it again. No controller response and Steam crashed on exit. Maybe Its a problem specifically linkes to Steam, overcooked all you can eat and the New xbox series in kombination??

This should be it :) and thanks for the help! It seems i am able to start a game and load using the keyboard now, i have succesfully once or twice been able to use two controllers, but for the most part the controllers dont work, and it seems to be totally random. For now im stuck playing overcooked two which works fine. Im not totally dismissive that it might be an issue with my system, it just puzzles med that Overcooked: all you can eat, seems to be the game which just wont work as intended.

Hey Fyrendos,

Thank you for sharing that with us.

Do you have the sonic studio software installed? If so, this has been known to cause issues with some games, can you please uninstall and test?

Please also try running the game and Steam as an administrator:
  1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
  2. Go to Properties then the Local Files tab.
  3. Click Browse Local Files.
  4. Locate the game executable (the application).
  5. Right-click it and go to Properties.
  6. Click the Compatibility tab.
  7. Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
To run Steam as administrator:
  1. Navigate to your Steam install folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
  2. Right-click the Steam executable.
  3. Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator
  4. Restart Steam.
Get back to us when you can.

Regards,
