We are sorry to hear you're having a problem.
Can you just answer some questions for me:
Are you using a controller when the problem happens?
What are you trying to select?
Could you provide a screenshot of the menu you are in?
To take a screenshot, please make sure, that you have Steam Overlay enabled in your game
- Go to Steam -> Settings.
- Click the In-Game tab.
- Check "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game"
- Go to Library.
- Right-click on the game title and select Properties.
- Under the General tab also make sure "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game" is checked.
In the game, press F12 to take a screenshot. Then press Shift+Tab to bring up the Steam overlay, and Upload your screenshot, make it public. Then simply include the URL of your screenshot on the forum (it should look something like "http...sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=...")Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause in the meantime.

Thank you for getting that screenshot over to us!
When you move your mouse over the options on the screen, what happens? Does the game or your PC freeze at all when you are on the menu screen?
Can you also just confirm that even though I know you've mentioned you aren't using a controller, there are no controllers or joysticks plugged into the computer at all, please?
Get back to us when you can.

Can you please tell us what resolution you have the game set to in the game settings?

Thanks for getting back to us.
Would you be able to send us a short video or screen recording of this issue occurring at all?
That way we can see exactly what it is that's going on and try to help you resolve it.
Get back to us when you can.

Thanks for getting back to us with that video - we really appreciate it.
Can you please confirm that even though I know you've mentioned you aren't using a controller, there are no controllers/joysticks or other unnecessary or unused USB devices plugged into the computer at all, please?
Let's try to check your game installation to make sure that there are no corrupted files causing the problem. To do this:
Then attempt to run the game to see if the issue is resolved.
The other thing to try would be a clean boot of your PC.
Can you please follow the steps in the link to perform a clean boot?[support.microsoft.com]

Once this is done please launch the game to see if the issue still continues. To re-enable your start-up programs:
Please do let us know if any of the above steps work to fix the issue!

We tried restarting the game a couple times but it kept having the same issue.
Fortunately I usually have an Xbox controller plugged into the pc so the next time I restarted the game I only used my controller to navigate to the settings menu. Then under 'CONTROLS' I had to hit the little triangular arrow button to navigate over to keyboard settings and then set my Keyboard settings back to default.
This obviously is not going to be as helpful if you don't have a controller handy so hopefully you do or can borrow one from someone.
We're sorry to read that you're having issues with the controls in Overcooked! Can you let us know if you have tried the steps in the previous responses?
If you have, and it hasn't worked, please share the DxDiag file from your PC with us.
1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R
2. The Run dialog should appear. Type dxdiag in the available text field.
3. Click OK
4. Click Save All Information
5. Set the Save as type to Text File (*.txt)
6. Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find.
7. Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as https://justpaste.it/ or http://pastebin.com/
8. Copy the link to your post and paste in your reply
Once we have this information, we will do our best to further assist you in resolving this matter.
