Controllers not working

Hey, just baught this to play with my gf, and the second controller doesn't connect (xbox one controllers). I might have to refund this. Any hope we can get a fix? Or is it a linux thing only (I could install it with proton if that's the case). Thanks.

Edit: A user confirmed this functionality works on Windows but not Linux (steam deck is linux). Added report to ProtonDB https://www.protondb.com/app/1243830

Sorry to hear you're having this issue.

The team is aware of the issue and currently working on this.
We hope for a fix as soon as possible.

You should be able to use a controller and keyboard in the meantime.

Does the game let you press A to continue to main menu with the controller (as opposed to pressing space w/ keyboard)?

It depends on what controller is registered as fist in the computers device stack. So Yes for the first one, no for any additional controllers.

Has this been fixed, yet? I have bought 4 xbox series S controllers on the assumption I could play with 4 players on 1 PC. I have got them all working in Steam big picture mode fine ( with a little effort), but only the first controller works in the game, press A on the other controllers has no effect.

Hi all,

Thanks for getting back in touch with us.

As mentioned above, the team is currently investigating the issue.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

You can try the following steps:

Unplug the controller
Launch the Steam client and click the controller icon at the top right to enter Big Picture Mode
Go to Settings > Controller Settings and make sure that "Playstation/Xbox/Generic Configuration Support" are all toggled on.
Then simply plug your controller and retest the game

So the team has been working on this for 4 months, but have not managed to fix it yet? I have now tested 4 controllers with other games and they work fine, so this does seem to be unique to overcooked

Just to be clear to Team 17, the issue isn't any controller connecting, or the PC connecting to the controllers! The issue is Overcooked not recognising additional controller connections. Reconnecting a controller doesn't fix this issue. And yes, controllers work with other games fine as well!

I hope we can know when it is fixed haha, it is a game breaking bug.

Hello everyone! I had the same issue. But may have helpful, when I open the game in Big Picture Mode, the controllers work fine. Cheers!

Didn't work for me in big picture mode. I refunded the game.

I have been playing Witchtastic which is great, works with 4 four controllers and really well done.

Any update on this issue? I just got this game and I'm having the same issue. All controllers work fine with other games.

We're sorry to hear you're having this issue.

Can you please also try using big picture mode and test whether the issue continues?

Can you please also follow the steps below:

Unplug the controller

Then simply plug your controller and retest the game

Hi, yes I tried that already.

I have 2 xbox 360 controllers connected wirelessly through a USB dongle and 1 xbox one controller connected by USB.

I can get all of them to work one at a time, but I can't get more than one of them to work at the same time. They all work at the same time in other games.
