100% yes. Hence why the PC > PC port with 15% launch loyalty discount is insulting. If they wanted to, this could've been a free update to Overcooked 2 (updated graphics, crossplay) with Overcooked 1 coming in as a separate dlc, but instead they wanted to milk their fans for what amounts to me as Overcooked 1 in the Overcooked 2 engine
I just honestly wish people were more understanding, the game devs are getting bombarded with a bunch of vitriol.
P.S. I've only played the game with friends, this is the first one I actually bought myself, so the price isn't an issue for me (just trying to empathize).
My best wishes go out to both the customers and devs, I hope this situation ends well.
I'm reading some comments about "Remote Play coming soon", but I got a simple question about it. When you talk about Remote Play, you mean Remote Play TOGETHER, or Remote Play on TV/other devices? Cause that's a pretty big difference, and at least in my case the main reason I'm very upset with this remaster is the lack of Remote Play TOGETHER (already available in non remastered OC2). Thanks for your time and have a nice day.
Yeh, but still my point is that (take as example non-remaster Overcooked 2 so you can check this if you want) there are different game labels related to "Remote Play", such as "Remote Play on TV", "Remote Play on Tablet", "Remote Play on Smartphone" or "Remote Play Together", but they are all different things/options, and some games have one of them available, and others can have others (or none, or all)... So my question is what they actually mean when they say they are fixing "Remote Play": which of those kinds of Remote Play are they adding, cause they imply very different things. Problem is the name is so similar it makes it very confusing to know (as said, you can check this label's mess I'm talking about in OC2 store page, and compare it with other coop games, or OC remaster itself).
I feel like the new customers or people with deep pockets are the ones that can use "more understanding" lol. I had people insult me on these forums for just voicing my concerns over the pricing. Very toxic. I don't think anyone's bashed the actual developer for answering our questions, but at the end of the day they don't make these decisions. I think the pricing is absurd, and I feel like it's normal for people to be upset about it. And for the people who did make the decision, well, let's hope they learn a bit from this all. Otherwise Overcooked 1 & 2 will just be a happy memory.
Seeing this, ouch. I'd feel bad if I paid for these.
But what happened to the times when people showed more understanding for indie games? Both OC1 and OC2 are lovingly crafted experiences, to think that the devs suddenly made this decision, because of greed seems absurd to me. But again, it's still a large mistake, even if an honest one.
Yeah, I do agree. I would understand if this was a big soulless corp like EA or something. But lots of indie devs definitely need the community support. But I think Team 17: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team17 controls the pricing. It's also a 30 years old company, so they have lots of experience. This kind of seems like a money grabbing move to me.
I think some gamer's just don't understand that there's a lot of people involved and the devs generally don't control pricing. Or they just don't think about it much and just need something to release their anger. Either way I think the majority on the forums are tame, and are a lot better at discourse then myself lol.
People never understand the most basic of concepts:
WHO PAID FOR EVERYTHING?
WE DID. Team17 fronts the money to develop their interests.
WE pay for that. If we gave no money, then T17 has lost money, and either defaulted on a loan or owes big. That is the risk they take when developing.
If it is a success, then that is because the customers or "fans" have purchased all the outstanding 'debt' and covered all their expenses, including the food they eat, the gas they use and the air conditioned rooms they work in.
They have no success until WE BUY IT. Which we did in full: They made a second, even bigger game. The fans have paid plenty at full price and now they want the fans to cover the cost for the discount they are offering to new players.
New customers get everything for $40
Fans get to pay over $100 to support them longer. They have exploited their customers and there is no "honest mistake" to be found.
