Warzone 2100

Warzone 2100

Wonky balance tbh
Not that orig balance was great but things seem even more limited now. Rockets for example have basically no purpose T1 early. It's not just about dps but time to unlock, time to build, survivability, etc. is all inferior. Half-tracks OP.

Overall it feels like the countering system was tightened up a bit too much. Ironically this does not seem to push players to use more of the tech tree, but less.

Certain old-school beeline strats were shut down and I'm semi-OK with that (chainguns?) but it's time for the "balance<->fun" pendulum to swing back in the other direction imo.

Also see my note in review about how this steam version is itself inferior plz ty.

Oh hi, it's me again.

Also want to say: tower rush may not be the most glorious but sometimes when u set up ridic game vs AI u need to wipe some out fast. Well, should 2-3 repair jeeps really be able to circle jerk and outlive a greater number of MG towers? Not to mention keep alive a bunch of trucks at the same time. This is Nexus medium btw.

One of the major rebalances early on when this went open source was just to separate the whole paper rock scissors of mg/cannon/rocket/etc. -- i.e. make weps better against specific enemies and worse against the others (e.g. MG is good against wheels and hover but not track or h/t) -- and i agree that was needed to whatever point (probably a lesser point tbh). But somehow now we are at a point where MGs -- supposedly early game's anti-inf. -- let cyborgs just stroll up and say hi. Of course we can just dust everything flamers but 1) I prefer projectile weps playstyle and 2) they shouldn't be so dominant, anyway.

Emplaced defenses in general just seem worthless esp vs. the struggle to not be poor. And not just cuz the ai can warp thru certain wall patterns. :steamfacepalm:

No surprise the "active community" -- i.e. (probably a relatively small "enclave" of) the multiplayer scene -- is who is getting the say on how things work -- and that's righteous to a degree -- but ... i need to vent a bit and it's easier to do it here cuz i already have a steam acct. :P

I honestly don't follow patch notes etc. (maybe should, and be more involved, i concede), but, while I wouldn't say things have got worse since the last time I played, they def haven't got better. this early-game balance-wise. just saying. p.s. i typically play w/ max power, no bases, tech 1.
Is there a fix for the background of the map in current Steam version 4.4.2? I usually play black color and I can't see any of my units or anything I build on the map, or the areas I've explored. The black background just doesn't make for a useful map.
