First of, why are you giving an artillery the 'coast artillery' mechanics?
You should not be doing that if you just want your gun to attack ships, for this specific purpose, I have added a brand new property yesterday called 'can attack ships'
Use that instead
The coastal battery flag has a whole bunch of code, and is now useless for this kind of behaviour
Now, I have done as you said. I created a new mod, I have activated it, I went to the units editor, I picked a random artillery, I turned ON the 'coastal battery' toggle, I made sure my mod was active and selected in the units editor, I proceeded to add the unit, went back to the mods menu, hit apply changes (not sure why you did that), went back to the units editor, my unit is like I left it, coastal battery is still ON
Finally, yes, no units will be shown until you manually start looking for one, or if you start selecting some filters
Thanks for this. The reason I selected 'coast artillery' is because when i hover over it, it says 'allows a ground unit to attack ships'. So I thought this was the one.
So, I tried with the 'can attack ships' instead. Saved it, was still there when I went back in. Didn't bother with apply changes, and added the updated unit into my map. Then played scenario. But, they didn't work. Also bought one in the scenario but that didn't work either.
I then went back to unit editor and the box had unchecked itself again. So, this time I edited unit, and instead of going into map editor, I went straight to play scenario. And this time it worked. So, is map editor removing it somehow?
Another strange thing is that when I start a scenario and buy units, when I want to deploy them there is a number over the towns/cities, so I have to wait 3-5 turns before I can deploy. Is this a new thing, only appeared yesterday?
A bug Valentin eliminated with very recent update.
Thanks jlow, I've tried it again and it seems to be eliminated now, like you say. It was definitely there an hour ago though.
Fortunately Valentin had the patch out before I started playing today :)
